A very popular score. They are well-worthy of it. Australia need to be careful here. They have given away a number of penalties. If they don't cut that down they could have another man in the bin alongside Cooper.

  2. Penalty - Berchesipublished at 24 mins

    Australia 12-3 Uruguay

And the kick from Felipe Berchesi is good - Uruguay are on the board!

  3. Australia 12-0 Uruguaypublished at 23 mins

True to form, Australia are again on the attack and with numbers over but  the pass is spilled, wing Joe Tomane this time the guilty party.

Now, what have we got here then? A mini scuffle breaks out, with the mustached Matias Beer in the mix.

Uruguay will have a penalty after all of that too, replays showing a late tackle from Will Skelton as the reason. Felipe Berchesi will go for goal...

It has been frantic. Australia dominating the scoreboard but not the crowd. They have had a lot of ball and the set piece has been dominant but the final execution has let them down. But Uruguay are the epitome of being an irritant. They are working so hard.

Not a bad start by Sean McMahon according to the stats, scoring one and creating another.

Australia, meanwhile, are back inside Uruguay's 22 and piling the pressure on. But an infringement at the base of a ruck follows and the South Americans are reprieved.

And Los Teros, as the men in white are known, can only concede a penalty at the set-piece.

They've actually done pretty well during the last nine or 10 minutes to limit the damage following that second Australia try...

It's a proper old shove from Uruguay too, who commit a whole heap of bodies to the rolling maul - remarkably, at least 11 or 12 by my count - but it eventually comes to tumbling down.

Nick Phipps, in for Will Genia at scrum-half today, has the put in for Australia.

  9. Sin-bin - Cooperpublished at 15 mins

    Australia 12-0 Uruguay

A short break in play as the referee heads upstairs to take a look at a slightly high tackle from Quade Cooper on Uruguay scrum-half Agustin Ormaechea.

And Cooper is off to the bin - for the third time in international rugby this year!

One way or another the 27-year-old just always seems to be involved. To touch Uruguay go...

Already this is looking like a question of not if and when but how many for the Wallabies.

Centre Matt Toomua leads a break from inside his own half but the ball is dropped, prompting flanker Matias Beer to launch a counter attack - but the ball is put down for a second time and the chance, if it was a chance, is squandered.

Australia break from the restart. It was fantastically taken from Ben McCalman. It is all about execution from the backs. Kurtley Beale had acres of sace and then Quade Cooper Cooper - what a touch from him to Joseph Tomane. I was talking about it being a nervous affair but the foundations set now by Australia are unbelievable.

    Australia 12-0 Uruguay

Goodness me, the Wallabies are in ruthless mood.

Sean McMahon is at the heart of it again, his break over halfway opening space up in behind, and Quade Cooper latches onto a kick-chase to tee up Joe Tomane for the easiest of tries.

The conversion this time is good, and the early signs are ominous for Uruguay.

Brilliant execution from Australia. A lot has been said about decisions after yesterday but they kicked into the corner and executed it superbly well. Powerful and breaking off at the end. It is the second time they have gone into the Uruguay 22 and have come away with the points.

  14. try

Try - McMahon, missed con Cooperpublished at 8 mins

    Australia 5-0 Uruguay

Another Australia line-out, this time only eight metres or so from Uruguay's line, and this time the try the Wallabies should've scored a few moments ago.

The set-piece and subsequent rolling maul is in fine working order, and flanker Sean McMahon wheels around the back to cross from close range.

Quade Cooper's less than certain start continues though, his conversion wayward.

I cannot believe what I have just watched. Uruguay switch off and Kurtley Beale switches on and into fifth gear. If Drew Mitchell had caught it he was in and under the posts to settle Australia nerves. But that will give a boost to Uruguay.

That's completely and utterly schoolboy from the Uruguayans from the line-out though, as Drew Mitchell takes a quick one and sets full-back Kurtley Beale clear down the left-hand side - but his pass back to Mitchell with the line at his mercy is spilled. A waste.

Uruguay haven't started too badly themselves though, Ugo, retaining possession from the scrum and working through the phases on halfway.

The gold and green shirts are so sharp out of the line though, and Leandro Leivas can only knock the ball out of play.

Brilliant start from Australia, with lots of ball in play. It was amazing to watch them kick the ball from 50m away. They are showing respect to their opponent. They don't want what happened to South Africa with Japan to happen to them. It is about control.

Quade Cooper, overlooked for Bernard Foley at fly-half in the opening win over Fiji, doesn't do his claims for a regular starting place any favours as he boots long and straight over the dead ball line.

Scrum down, just inside Australia's half.

  20. Kick-offpublished at 1 min

    Australia 0-0 Uruguay

Uruguay fly-half Felipe Berchesi, one of only four professional players in their World Cup squad, boots long to get us under way.

French referee Pascal Gauzere is the man in the middle today, officiating his first World Cup match.
