Chances are coming quicker for England than Tube trains turn up at Oxford Circus station. Henry Slade sidesteps through the Uruguay defence, teeing up Anthony Watson, but the wing is stopped in his tracks by some desperate defending. Then back rower James Haskell sees the ball slip out of his hands like a wet bar of soap when he had two men on the outside.

That is England's bonus-point try secured. Always a matter of time. With Uruguay still down to 14, England try to put their foot down but another sloppy handling error from the back row - this time Chris Robshaw - sees the chance go begging.

"Lovely skills from a rock-solid platform. No messing around. Nick Easter popped it to Danny Care, beautiful hands from Ford to Goode to Watson. I love watching a team walk in a try."

Anthony Watson, missed con Owen Farrell

Nice. Neat hands from England quickly works an opening out wide on the right, after they maintain their 100% record at the scrum. And Anthony Watson is on hand to dive over in the corner. Owen Farrell, for the first in this tournament, fluffs his lines with the kick,

Right, here we go then. George Ford kicks high into the Manchester night to start the final 40 minutes of England's World Cup campaign. Nick Easter shows sharper legs than a man half of his age to collect and tee up an England attack...

England well in the ascendancy in Manchester.

They have also run 236m with the ball, compared to Uruguay's 129m.

Bu the dominance tells the most in the scoreboard where it is three tries to nil.

But a warning is that they have conceded seven turnovers, one less than Uruguay.

This game is reminiscent of England's last group game in Brazil last summer- no one really cares. Discipline at the breakdown & not knowing our strongest team has been our downfall.

BBC Sport's Piers Newbery reports: "There's a decent showing in the Manchester fanzone, but it's not the celebration of progressing to the knock-out phase England were hoping for."

    Should England ring the changes?

I would love to see Lancaster given a stay until the Six Nations to see if any lessons have been learned. Anything less than a series win would be indicative that he should go.

England's half? Slow start, rocketed the middle bit, and then laboured a little towards the end. Tremendous defensive effort from Uruguay, but the England doubters probably won't be overly-encouraged by that 40 minutes against the Pool A whipping boys.

Right one last chance for England. The Red Rose look for another gap, and are helped when Uruguay captain Santiago Vilaseca sees yellow in the dying seconds as referee Chris Pollock loses patience. But the Uruguayan defence hold out, win the turnover and go down the tunnel without further damage.
