    Talking of Julian Savea...

"He's left roadkill everywhere," said former All Black Andrew Mehrtens during his BBC Radio 5 live commentary as he watched compatriot Savea bump off French defenders and thunder to the line for a particularly memorable try.

The All Black winger, nicknamed 'The Bus', scored a hat-trick of tries against the French and became the tournament's leading try scorer, taking his tally to eight.

One more try and he will have scored the most tries at a single World Cup, surpassing Jonah Lomu (8 in 1999) and Bryan Habana (8 in 2007).

South Africa v New Zealand (16:00 BST)

Springboks flanker Schalk Burger told us something in the pre-match chat that we all already knew - that the All Blacks' razor-sharp attack is "phenomenal".

The world champions have ruthlessly steamrolled over every team in their path, topping the try-scoring chart in the process.

But the South Africans are no slouches in an attacking sense either, currently in a podium position in the race for most tries, clean breaks, carries, metres and defenders beaten.

Here's how their attacking armories compare...

"I've always thought from the start that the way the paths and pulls worked out that Australia and New Zealand would meet in the final. Not a lot I've seen has changed my mind from that, although both games this weekend will be competitive. There'll be some drama, no doubt."

The Springboks know how to beat the All Blacks. They've done it in the Rugby Championship. They won't play an expansive game, they will be very direct against the All Blacks. It's the only chance they have to win the game."

New Zealand have 15 players who take to the field and then they have another 15 players who would easily slot into that team... and they’d probably still be number one in the world. If this team secure back-to-back World Cups they will be the best All Blacks team of all time."

How good have New Zealand been since winning the World Cup on home soil? Heyneke Meyer's thoughts are based on solid facts.

The All Blacks have been beaten just the three times and drawn just two matches since 23 October 2011. They've won 48 matches, which calculates into a 92% success rate - A*, top of the class, enough to get them entrance into Oxbridge.

The Wales team of the 1950s? England in 2003? The All Blacks side of 1987 or Australia in 1984? Which has been the greatest team in history?

South Africa coach Heyneke Meyer made his thoughts clear this week, saying it was the current All Blacks side.

"This is the best team to have ever played the game," said the South African. "If you look at their run after the World Cup, they've just got better after the previous World Cup and that doesn't happen in world rugby. It will need our best performance probably ever to beat them."

England's World Cup-winning coach Sir Clive Woodward said they were a pleasure to watch. Those watching looked on in awe. Nine tries. A demolition. The All Blacks superb in their 62-13 demolition of France.

    South Africa have taken note.

"They didn’t just stick the knife in, they put it in and turned it and the French felt the full wrath,” said prop Jannie Du Plessis earlier this week.

There are stats to back up Jeremy Guscott's claims because Schalk Burger is a monster of a flanker. He's made 80 carries - 20 more than any other player at this tournament - and he also ranks third for most tackles (55) and third for most offloads (17).

South Africa v New Zealand (16:00 BST)

But there is hope for South Africa. Why? I'll let Jeremy Guscott tell you.

"In Duane Vermeulen, Francois Louw and Schalk Burger, the Springboks have got three tearaways who will absolutely terrorise the breakdown," he says.

"Not only that, but in second rows Lood de Jager - arguably the best lock in the competition - and Eben Etzebeth, they have other big ball-carriers who are conspicuous in all the rucks and mauls."

  19. 'An explosion of rugby'published at 15:00

South Africa v New Zealand (16:00 BST)

I know what you're all thinking - what has Jeremy Guscott have to say about this match?

The former England international predicts an "explosion of rugby", a semi-final which will be "unbelievable in its intensity".

In his latest BBC Sport column, Guscott says: "This All Blacks side is the smartest rugby team. They are definitely the best in the rugby brain department, and this is where they have the edge. They appear to have the answer for most predicaments. Whatever the Boks throw at them, they will have an answer."
