"It was a dull game, the conditions were poor. But as the second half moved on the level of control France had was in Ireland's half. Ireland spent the last 20 minutes in their own 22 and it's nigh on impossible to score from there."

It was tight and tense and decided by the narrowest of margins, but a much-improved second-half performance by France made the difference in Paris on Saturday afternoon.

They now have two wins from two - with a points difference of +3.

Since France changed their props they have been on top in the scrums and with that giving the rest of the team both confidence and a steady supply of ball, the hosts have gradually take control of the game.

Eddie O'Sullivan might see the Irish coming back, but that's hard to imagine from what I'm seeing.

Try - Medard, con Plissonpublished at 70 mins

    France 10-9 Ireland

A gem from the French. Everyone is expecting another shove from the pack, but they get quick ball, it is flipped to Maxime Medard and the skilful Toulouse full-back - out of favour under the last regime - beats his man and scores under the posts.

Jules Plisson converts and France are in the lead.

"You do worry for Jonny Sexton because he does go high (in the tackle). Outside-halves should not be exposed to this sort of clubbing. For his welfare you feel grateful that he's not going to be exposed anymore."

Johnny Sexton gets examined after being clattered and he is removed from the action, with Ian Madigan on in his place.
