Max Baggins-Craig: What a tight-nip 1st half shift that was, not many points, but plenty of potential on show. Be very interesting for the 2nd half.

Keri Gibson: Ireland are not playing their best by any means. They should be many points up given how France are playing.

They're into the second half in Italy and England have scored two tries in quick succession to give them some breathing space.

Abbie Scott's try was quickly followed by replacement Bianca Blackburn's touchdown, putting England 33-17 ahead of the home side.

  3. Big man, big impact?published at 15:19

France have picked a couple of huge props, but they're not getting their own way at the scrum by any means, and Ireland loose-head Jack McGrath is doing a fine job against Uini Atonio.

    Eddie O'Sullivan
Former Ireland coach on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"The defence is paying dividends for Ireland. If they can keep holding off this pressure there will be more turnovers. France don’t look to have a strategy for getting out of their own half."

Ireland would take a six-point lead at the break you'd have thought. Now they just have to deal with the restart...

The French scrum has just been splintered - Brian Moore is not impressed - and up steps Johnny Sexton...

"One area that will concern Joe Schmidt is, if you watch the defensive realignment, too many times Ireland are getting front row and second row forwards defending the outside channels. France haven't been able to capitalise on that but, if that continues, those mismatches will count."

Ireland are still well on top in terms of territory and possession, although France have come back at them in the past five minutes.

France are hammering away at the Irish defence but they're as incisive as a slab of pate at the moment.

Jules Plisson tries a drop-goal, but not even Sergio Parisse would have been happy with that - well wide.

"The Irish defence has been good. France have been awful, they had a five on three and didn't make it count. It's a great pity, from Ireland's point of view, that they're only three points ahead because they've been the better team."

Keri Gibson: Some dodgy play going on in this game. Not much joined up play by either team yet.

Harry Lock: Can someone tell Ireland and France that they're international players, and wet conditions aren't an excuse for sloppy handling

    France 0-6 Ireland

In the midst of all that Ireland have lost Dave Kearney to that shoulder injury, with Fergus McFadden on to replace him.

It is hugely physical out there.

Stephen Leatherdale: The more the match goes on, the more I like it. Very physical but quite chess like too.

Jordan King: Johnny Sexton needs to calm it down and just keep it simple. Not every pass has to be a missed fade wrap around wonder ball.

  19. France 0-3 Irelandpublished at 28 mins

Ireland winger Dave Kearney is marmalised - legally - by France hooker Guilhem Guiardo and looks to have injured his shoulder.

Ireland still have the ball and when is is swept left Kearney is tackled one more - he is in real pain.

But he retains the ball, Ireland continue and it's a penalty to the visitors...

Another scrum - can the massive French front row bring its power to bear? Nope, free-kick Ireland and away the green hordes go.
