That's it then. Weekend one of the 2016 Six Nations is done. Over. Finito.

Thankfully we'll be doing it all over again next week. But there will be no love being shared by this lot on Valentine's weekend.

Ireland are the first back in action when they take on misfiring France in Paris, having beaten them as recently as last October when they won a World Cup pool match 24-9 in Cardiff.  

Wales entertain Scotland a couple of hours later, hoping to stop the visitors earning their first win in Cardiff since 2002. And, the following day, early leaders England go to Italy.

Former Wales warrior Martyn Williams was impressed by what he watched in Dublin...

And here's one of the reasons why Ireland's new blind-side CJ Stander impressed the home fans. The South African-born Munster man led the carry count in Dublin, well ahead of anyone else on the pitch.

Wales head coach Warren Gatland appears in front of the TV cameras, likening the draw to, erm, kissing his sister. OK then... 

"Both teams will be frustrated," the Kiwi boss tells ITV. "But we're still in the competition. 

"We started poorly in the first 20 minutes, after that we raised the tempo and got into the game. It was a soft penalty for them to tie the game, but perhaps a fair reflection."

Ireland captain Rory Best speaking to ITV: "A draw is a hard result to put into words. We're happy we didn't lose the game. After going behind for the first time with six minutes or so remaining, we showed great character to come back and get the draw. 

"That's the positive and we have a lot of work-ons to work on. 

"We wanted to start well, because with the way Wales defend it is a hard task to get back on top of them if they go ahead. 

"When we got the ball in the opening half hour, we looked dangerous so it was pleasing. 

"To let them find a way back is a bit disappointing."

Paul Brooks: Great game to watch, well done both teams!

Gary Roberts: Disappointed we didn't have Biggar fit to win the match. Time to play the smaller nations now. Glad the biggest two teams have played.

Sam Warburton's Ireland counterpart Rory Best has just appeared in front of the television cameras.

Like everyone, he looks like he is still trying to work out what he makes of a draw.

He says they are still in the championship, but have plenty of "work-ons". 

I'm not sure that is a English noun.

Wales captain Sam Warburton talking to ITV: "I was disappointed with first 20 minutes, we talked before the game about having to start well because Ireland always come flying out of the blocks. We're pleased that we weathered the storm and managed to fight back.

"A draw is not a good result for anyone. It takes away the possibility of a Grand Slam or  Triple Crown, and it means we have got to take another big scalp down the line to win the Championship. But we have got three home games now so that's the positive."

"I'm very proud of Ireland. I was pretty down on them coming into this match with the form they have had and the injuries.

"I just though it was going to be too much to ask for them to win but they have come out with fantastic organisation and have ground out a draw."

"Coming into this game, Wales would have expected to win - not many pundits or supporters thought Wales would not win.

"But you have to consider that Wales had almost their best team on the field. Ireland could've won it and have a lot of key players, important players, that will come back into this set-up.

"However, Warren Gatland will be delighted that Wales haven't lost and they still have the championship available. Rhys Priestland came on and did well with the boot"

It was a humdinger of a match.

Jamie Roberts was a monster presence in midfield for Wales in a match that was a little more beefy than the student rugby he was playing before Christmas.

Jamie Heaslip and Andrew Trimble played a full part in a good all-round performance from Ireland.

Although the hosts will be frustrated that, having had Wales where they wanted them at 13-0 up, they needed a late penalty to secure a draw.

That period between 20 and 40 minutes will be the one that is picked apart by Joe Schmidt's video analysts.

"What a Test match. We had tension and drama and both sets of players emptied themselves. It was incredible and both teams will feel they could've won the match.

"It was a fantastic effort from both sets of players and it was a great advert for the six Nations - my faith is somewhat restored."

Finally this match comes to a close despite both teams taking their best shots at late glory.

Perhaps that is the fair result. Both side had periods of dominance.

And both looked a cut above Saturday's offerings from England, Scotland, France and Italy.
