And Sale, who are a point behind Harlequins in seventh, can still grab the final Champions Cup place if they can beat Newcastle and either Northampton or Harlequins lose.

    But there's a twist.

If Harlequins win the Challenge Cup next weekend then they would be guaranteed a Champions Cup spot regardless of where they finish - should that be in the top six, then seventh place would also get a Champions Cup place. Good news for Sale.

  3. Maths of the daypublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 7 May 2016

    Premiership top six

Here's the all-important maths you'll be needing this afternoon.

Saracens have already secured top spot and a home semi-final, but for the teams below there's still plenty to play for.

Exeter must win to guarantee second place and be sure of a home semi-final, but if they slip up away to Harlequins, who need a bonus-point victory to secure a Champions Cup place, Wasps can pip them into second with a win over London Irish.

Leicester travel to Bath knowing a place in the semi-finals is already secure, but they could still finish as high as second. Their hopes are slim -  they need both Exeter and Wasps to lose without any bonus points and to win themselves with a try bonus point - but it's mathematically still possible.

I'm sure those who live in caves down Devon way know what Chiefs need to do today.
