    Saracens 14-7 Wasps

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Former Scotland scrum-half Rory Lawson on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "The Saracens boa constrictor defence just tightened and tightened with Maro Itoje finally forcing the turnover as he locked on and proved unmoveable over the top of the ball.

"Farrell's kick was like one of Danny Willett's drives at Augusta. It was so pure."

    Saracens 14-7 Wasps

Fine take by Gopperth and Wasps really need to do something with this, otherwise this game could start to leak away from them. Daly with the ball in hand and I can't remember seeing that much in the first half... Wasps put some phases together but Sarries force another penalty at the breakdown and Farrell is going to have another stab from long-range... nailed another one, Saracens taking over the show...

  3. Penalty (Farrell)published at 41 mins

    Saracens 11-7 Wasps

Saracens with a penalty straight off the bat and Farrell will have a dart from about 45 metres out, bang in front... no mistakes this time, Farrell officially back on song...

Wasps get the second half under way through the boot of Gopperth...

  5. What is to be done?published at 16:02

Difficult to know how Wasps are going to win this. It's all well and good saying Wasps should go back to their running game, but it's not that easy against this Saracens side. It's like trying to chisel out some space inside a titanium tomb. For Saracens, I assume the team-talk will be more of the same...

    Saracens 8-7 Wasps

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Former Scotland scrum-half Rory Lawson on BBC Radio 5 live: "You would not call it 8-7 if you were watching the game and not the scoreboard. Saracens should be five to 10 points clear. They have made it very difficult for Wasps to exit their own 22m and have starved them of possession.

"Jimmy Gopperth has been put under pressure and Wasps have to change how they are planning to get upfield and more of the ball. Elliot Daly's boot might be the way to go.

"When they get into Saracens' territory they have to treat this ball like a bar of gold, because they will not get many opportunities to score."

    Saracens 8-7 Wasps

Well, what a strange half that was: Wasps took the lead in the first minute with a scintillating try from Dan Robson but that was literally the only attacking move they had in 40 minutes. The rest of the half was Saracens and it would have been almost absurd had they not led at half-time. They do, thanks to that last-gasp penalty by Farrell.

  9. Penalty (Farrell)published at 40 mins

    Saracens 8-7 Wasps

Saracens win the line-out through Rhodes, here's Billy again... here's Itoje, losing it in the tackle, but there was a Wasps man off-side and Farrell has a very easy chance to give Saracens a deserved half-time lead... over it goes...

Saracens with attacking ball but it's coughed up in the contact area and Gopperth clears successfully this time. George Kruis is patched up and sent into the line-out but it's Itoje who takes. Billy Vunipola goes on a drive, pushed forward by his team-mates, but Wasps kept him upright and won the scrum.

Halai pulls another Garryowen out of the skies, this is a bombardment from Saracens, Wasps must be out on their feet. George Smith, largely anonymous, gives away a penalty and Farrell finds a good touch.

Ashton under the high one and this is nice offloading work by Saracens, which ends with Mako Vunipola blasting through and Farrell muffing again with the boot. Wasps win the line-out but here's Goode with another Garryowen... Robson finally clears his lines, Wasps can breathe again...

    Saracens 5-7 Wasps

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Former Scotland scrum-half Rory Lawson on BBC Radio 5 live: "Saracens' pressure finally told. Jimmy Gopperth was charged down by Owen Farrell five minutes earlier but that was not warning enough apparently.

"Michael Rhodes was very alert to regather the ball after making the initial charge down. Saracens have clearly looked at putting pressure on Gopperth, rushing up hard on the Wasps fly-half."

    Try (Rhodes)published at 29 mins

    Saracens 5-7 Wasps

Gopperth is actually OK, the last man to his feet is Duncan Taylor. But he's up again and we finally have a scrum, Wasps feed... Hughes flies off the base of the scrum but Gopperth is charged down again, this time by Rhodes, and the South African burrows over for a try. Farrell has missed the extras again, not sure what's up with him today...

Both sides wanting to play fast, quick offloading rugby so far in this one.

At times, you'd be mistaken for thinking you were watching a Super Rugby contest.

Breath-taking stuff so far, you wonder how long both sets of defences can keep up.

  17. Saracens 0-7 Waspspublished at 27 mins

Saracens are just so suffocating, trying to find any space against them must be like being in darkroom and looking for a black cat that isn't there. Wasps scrum, Farrell with the charge-down, but Wasps win it back again. Robson hoists one, Ashton underneath it, Mako Vunipola shrugs off a couple of challenges... fine mis-pass by Taylor but the whistle blows, looks like a head injury to Gopperth...

  18. Saracens 0-7 Waspspublished at 23 mins

That's a fine kick to touch by Gopperth, Wasps with an attacking platform inside Saracens' half. This time Wasps win their line-out but concede a penalty, Davies going in at the side.

Andrew Priestley on Twitter: "Correct decision to disallow that try. Yes, rugby is a contact sport, but you can't shoulder-charge a player without possession."

  20. Saracens 0-7 Waspspublished at 21 mins

Goode out on the full, Wasps with the line-out, Itoje nicks it. But Wasps turn it over, Gopperth looks to find territory, Saracens kick it back... Wasps win it back but what a kick that is from Goode, he's won about 50 yards and it's a Wasps line-out inside their own 22...
