    FT: Bath 30-3 Sale

There are many good things about rugby. But it is fair to say the delays of the referee and Television Match Official annoyed some tonight.

Including former Harlequins and England winger Ugo Monye...

    Bath 30-3 Sale

The end of that was like a boxing match, with neither side wanting to go down.

Bath's damage was done way before the extra-time as they looked very classy with ball in hand and it is five out of six to start the Todd Blackadder reign.

Sale saw lots of ball but struggled to do anything with it.

    Bath 30-3 Sale

Credit to Sale for carrying on playing with 14-men and the game gone.

They've just won themselves another penalty. The Sale coaching staff want it off but he players want to carry on on the edge of the Bath 22.

  8. Sin-bin (Leota)published at 83 mins

    Bath 30-3 Sale

Johnny Leota is shown a yellow card for his throw.

A silly, off the ball challenge from the Samoan which bordered on a red card. Judo like throw of Alex Brew.

    Bath 30-3 Sale

It sounded as if the referee had blown for full-time but an off the play incident between Johnny Leota and Aled Brew means we'll end this game with the Television Match Official.

    Bath 30-3 Sale

    Guess what? Another collapsed scrum.

We finish with the theme of the match. This has not been a classic Premiership Friday night.

    Bath 30-3 Sale

Nothing comes from the line-out, but Sale do then win a scrum seven metres out and another shot at a try.

Bath's defence, so quick out of the blocks all game, will want to keep the visitors in single figures.

    Bath 30-3 Sale

Another Sale penalty, another kick to touch.

This one is just five metres out now though - the closest they have been...

    Bath 30-3 Sale

The visitors' yellow shirts are ending the game with ball in hand, but the Bath defence has been impenetrable tonight.

Eventually they are forced to concede the penalty and Sale go to touch is search of this elusive try that they have not got close to scoring yet.

    Bath 30-3 Sale

As much as everyone can enjoy the tries Bath have scored tonight, there is another succession of scrums.

Eventually the hosts pick and go from the base of the scrum and we can play a bit of rugby again.

  15. Postpublished at 71 mins

    Bath 30-3 Sale

Sale win a penalty from a scrum and the Sharks kick to just outside the 22.

Can they come away with a consolation try... no, as Johnny Leota knocks on straight off the line-out.

Another mistake and Bath will be able to clear from the scrum.

    Bath 30-3 Sale

Understandably, Sale are trying things and probably forcing the game too much but they have lacked something tonight.

Loose passes, mistimed attacking and Bath are sending them backwards at the moment in defence.

Time is called off with Lawrence Pearce down injured.

  17. try

    Try (Palma-Newport)published at 66 mins

    Bath 30-3 Sale

They will be more than sniffing that try bonus point now.

A line-out falls kindly to Kane Palma-Newport, who reads it very well, and then he has work to do, but produces a winger-esque step to dot down.

George Ford keeps up his perfect record from the tee with his third conversion. This scoreline does not reflect the closeness of this game, but Bath have been clinical.

    Bath 23-3 Sale

The hosts really on the charge now.

As the Sale defence tires, they're attacking at all angles and bouncing off tackles.

You get the sense that Bath are sniffing a try bonus point here.

    Bath 23-3 Sale

    Max Lahiff
Bath prop on BBC Radio Bristol

Kahn Fotuali'i was a predator there, just jumping on that one error.

Sale have been pretty watertight with the ball and that was very uncharacteristic of them.

  20. try

    Try (Fotuali'i, con Ford)published at 62 mins

    Bath 23-3 Sale

Sale forcing the game and the error is pounced on by Bath scrum-half Kahn Fotuali'i.

Replacement scrum-half James Mitchell's pass is loose from a tackle on him and it bounces behind Sale players and the Samoan number nine picks up and races to the line.

Another two points for George Ford and a losing bonus point will be Sale's aim now.
