A sliced kick from AJ MacGinty has given Bath a decent platform from attacking line-out just outside the 22.

Sale's number 10 has taken a lot of ball into contact but yet to really get his team going.

    Bath 7-3 Sale

A few reset scrums but after a third one, Sale win the penalty with their pack moving forward.

Relief for the Sharks, with new co-owner Simon Orange sat next to director or rugby Steve Diamond tonight. Sale just edging possession at the moment but Bath looking more dangerous with ball in hand.

Lots of Sale ball and they edge closer and closer with each phase to the Bath 22, but the Blue, Black and Whites seem pretty well set in defence when they get to that line.

On phase 15, Bath do steal in and look to counter which they do from deep but as they get into Sharks territory, the ball is spilled.

    Bath 7-3 Sale

Slight worry for Sale as fly-half AJ MacGinty collides into the knee of Matt Garvey, but he shakes it off and is back on his feet.

Off the back of a Sharks scrum, Mike Phillips kicks it away and Bath are back in possession.

Down at the Rec it's like no other place. You've got the beautiful backdrop, the Bath stone.

It's really something to look at.

    Semesa Rokoduguni

Speaking of Semesa Rokoduguni, he must be in Eddie Jones' thoughts given his start to the season, as he leads the metres made in the English top-flight.

He also leads defenders beaten (20) and line breaks (nine). Not bad.

Boos ring around The Rec as replays show Semesa Rokoduguni keeps in a Sale clearance kick, but the assistant referee says he was out.

Kicks exchanged between both sides before Will Addison drills a low grubber kick into the Bath 22

Scrappy game at the moment this, no real rhythm in it at all.

The Bath backline look dangerous whenever they come forward but they have not seen much of the ball so far.

Sale full-back Byron McGuigan then has a kicked charged down and very nearly lets Bath in for a second try before he tackles George Ford into touch.

Not much of an atmosphere in the West Country tonight as Bath have yet to get their passing game going.

England head coach Eddie Jones, fresh from his new found Judo knowledge, is in attendance with his coaching staff.

    Bath 7-3 Sale

No try for the Sharks, but they really tested the Bath line there.

Their efforts are rewarded which winger Will Addison slots from a simple position - he is on kicking duty with fly-half AJ MacGinty suffering from a tight hamstring.

    Speaking of Addison...

    Bath 7-0 Sale

First bit of ball Sale have been able to work through the hands before ex-Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips puts in a deep kick.

Bath lose possession, then Sale throw it back at them before Kahn Fotuali'i kicks it clear.

Some afters from the Bath scrum-half and Will Addison and this game has some real niggle at the moment.

The second line-out of the game Sale get this one right.

Bath will have to keep their eye on Sale's number eight who leads the Premiership line-out takes going into the match. Sharks team-mate Bryn Evans sits third on 26 with Dave Attwood topping Bath's charts so far with 18.

Sharks win a penalty from the line-out and kick to the Bath 22.

    Bath 5-0 Sale

This try all comes from Dave Attwood stealing the first line-out of the game.

Slick hands get Bath out attacking on the right flank and then centre Matt Banahan hits a beautiful line to burst through and get his 50th Premiership try for the club, brilliantly worked try that.

George Ford adds the extras through the middle and what a start that is.
