If Alexi Lalas had been born 20 years later and north of the border, I reckon he would have looked something like Evan Olmstead.

You have to say that, on balance, Ireland deserve to lead this one - they gave away a soft couple of tries but they've been largely in control.

That is your lot. It's been a cracker, full of open running rugby.

And there is a little bit of unscheduled half-time entertainment as Sean O'Brien and Evan Olmstead have a little grapple and cuddle after the whistle blows.

It takes some time to peel the two of them apart.

It was a beautifully timed pass from Finlay Bealham, and Tiernan O'Halloran showed some searing rapidity to leave the Canada defence in his wake.

You could not have plotted a better angle with protractor and a laser pointer.

Tiernan O'Halloran comes zagging in to take a pop off-load from Finlay Beaham at full pelt about 40m out and the Canada defence is shredded.

A fine score from the full-back and Paddy Jackson nails the conversion.

Finlay Beaham has been a menace in defence. The Ireland prop comes flying up to chop down Lucas Rumball like a runaway lawn mower.

The referee has actually given a penalty against Luke Marshall for his challenge on the airbourne Matt Evans. It looked harsh. Marshall had his back to Evans and was make a genuine play for the ball.

Ireland's Garry Ringrose almost gets around the outside of his man, but Conor Trainor drags him to the turf.

The visitors have definitely come to the party though. Matt Evans comes rushing up to get more air than Jordan as he collects a steepling up-and-under.

If you're a forward who appreciates the game you'll think that maul is a thing of absolute beauty from Canada.

The halftime team-talk from Joe Schmidt is going to be interesting to say the least because Ireland are letting themselves down against a mediocre at best team.

Evan Olmstead takes the line-out ball to signal the start of a monster truck of a driving maul.

The backs fly in to add their weight to the effort and it is winger Taylor Paris who emerges from the depths with the ball and the score.

Scrum-half Gordon McRorie adds two more to level things up. Who saw that coming?

Giving the way he was limping about two minutes ago, it's amazing how Van der Merwe reacted with ball in hand!

But Ireland were over-playing at the back there, they just needed to get the ball out.

    Interception!

DTH van der Merwe swipes a pass from Luke Marshall and, with only 30 metres separating him from the line, there is no stopping the Canadian flyer.

A superb stick-splitter from Gordon McRorie to add the conversion.

Great confidence and handling, it was almost inevitable that it was going to come and it's no more than Ireland deserve for the pressure that they're exerting.

No-nonsense up front, party time at the back.

    Ireland's tactics resemble a mullet.

They pummel up around the fringes and then show a little finesse out wide as Keith Earls weaves and then flings a long pass out wide for Luke Marshall to win a footrace to the corner.

Paddy Jackson is on point with the extras.

Garry Ringrose hits an angle and sweeps over, but the pass from Paddy Jackson has drifted forward.

Play is called back for an earlier infringement though so Ireland will have another crack at this nut.

Canada's defence is prised apart by a neat back-row move as number eight Jack O'Donoghue picks up and sets off on a wide arcing run, drawing defenders to him and then flicking a pass back inside.

Sean O'Brien has a free path to the line, but can't quite gather the ball into his chest.

Craig Gilroy with a lovely turn of pace and a deft touch of boot leather as he skins his man chips and collects the bouncing ball.

He is hauled down on the Canada 22m line, but he looked like he picked up a bit of a head knock.

He is receiving treatment as play goes on.
