    Gloucester 21-6 Bristol

Bristol's physicality has been the big difference in the second-half, it's been an Achilles heel.

Gloucester have had more punch, more steel. It can't all be down to David Humphrey's team-talk can it?

    Gloucester 21-6 Bristol

Bristol have really run out of gas in the second half and Gloucester made them pay with the latest score.

The penalty try after Gloucester again battered their way toward the Bris line led to Jamal Ford-Robinson going to the sin-bin.

James Hook slapped the kick through the uprights and it's a three score lead now.

Greig Laidlaw on, Willi Heinz off.

    Leicester 13-11 Northampton

Leicester - as the home side - have been the more inventive of the two and have a try to their name but indiscipline has cost them so far.

It's given Stephen Myler a few chances to crack at goal and he's taken them. Mikey Haywood bludgeoned his way through for a score as wel.

    Good game. More to come.

  4. Penalty (Myler)published at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 13-11 Northampton

Last act of the half has Stephen Myler reducing the arrears to two.

  5. Postpublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 13-8 Northampton

Penalty goes against Leicester for handling in the scrum. First scrum infringement of the game.

Stephen Myler will go for the three.

  6. Postpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 13-8 Northampton

Smart tap play by Northampton carved a big hole in the Leicester line but execution was lacking in the final ball and the home side mop up.

    Sparkling play, but no reward.

  7. Postpublished at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 13-8 Northampton

Close to the break now at Welford Road, and Leicester were edging their way towards the line.

Have been impressed with the willingness to push the ball wide at every opportunity.

That said, Northampton have just secured themselves a penalty. There's a man down for the Saints - big signing Louis Picamoles!

  8. try

    Gloucester 14-6 Bristol

The art of poaching by Willi Heinz - would a best seller if he could get a publisher.

Having seen his teammates butcher an absolute peach of an opportunity before, Heinz then snatched the ball in the tackle from a Bristol player.

Touchdown under the posts, converted by Hook. What a comeback from the Cherry and Whites.

  9. Postpublished at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Gloucester 7-6 Bristol

It's all Gloucester at Kingsholm now.

They've been hammering away on the Bristol line and only massive defence has held up James Hook.

You feel there could be a second score on the way...

  10. Penalty (Burns)published at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 13-8 Northampton

Leicester not allowing Northampton to settle, both teams now back to full complement.

They had a penalty advantage and when their efforts to cross the stripe fell to nothing, up popped Freddie Burns to slot the kick.

  11. try

Try (Scott, con Hook)published at 17:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Gloucester 7-6 Bristol

Bristol have really applied themselves well in this game but Gloucester look a different side in the second-half.

Billy Twelvetrees created the try and Matt Scott rumbled in off the back of his quality. James Hook kicked the goal and Gloucester go in front.

  12. Penalty (Myler)published at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 10-8 Northampton

Stephen Myler whacks a three-pointer through from range and Northampton are back within two points.

It's going to be a battle...

  13. Kick-offpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Gloucester 0-6 Bristol

Back under way at Gloucester. What has David Humphreys had to say to his players?

  14. Postpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 10-5 Northampton

Good news for George North after his head injury assessment, back on the field.

Northampton need him to be at his best.

  15. Postpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 10-5 Northampton

Northampton get another line-out in range but Leicester stall the maul and eventually win a penalty off the back of it.

Smart work, notably by the flowing locks of Harry Thacker. Hard-edged work by the Tigers, who have just under five minutes down to 14.

  16. try

Try (Haywood)published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 10-5 Northampton

Grinding effort by Northampton off the line-out to cross the line, and Mikey Haywood touched the ball down under huge pressure.

Saints make the man advantage count with a score. No extra from Stephen Myler.

  17. Sin-binpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 10-0 Northampton

Adam Thompstone was the hero for Leicester a moment ago but could be the villain.

George North was tackled in the air by the winger and has gone to the sin-bin.

He was lucky that the Wales winger didn't land on his head, otherwise it could have been red.

Elliott Daly got a red for England from a similar position.

  18. try

Try (Thompstone, con Burns)published at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Leicester 10-0 Northampton

Adam Thompstone finishes off great work by Freddie Burns and Peter Betham and Leicester extend their lead.

Shows the virtue of a quality half in Burns, who tacked on the two.

Fine first 40 for acting head coach Mark Tainton as his side are two penalties to the good in a first West Country derby between these two at Kingsholm since 2008.

  20. Postpublished at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Gloucester 0-6 Bristol

Gloucester bang the ball into the corner having got another penalty in range.

Then cough up a penalty of their own, and the advantage slips away. Bristol will surely go into the shed in front now at half-time.
