Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw - after his finale appearance for Gloucester - tells Sky Sports:

"I'm disappointed. We all are. We came up here with high hopes but ultimately the game got away from us.

"But we give credit to Stade. We just couldn't get any territory, couldn't get up the field.

"[This medal] will go in the back of the garage somewhere. It's not the one you want, is it?"

Wales and Gloucester hooker Richard Hibbard tells Sky Sports:

"Stade today were fantastic. We're disappointed with some areas of our game, but we just weren't getting the rub of the green.

"We tried our best (at the scrum). We lost John [Afoa] early on.

"We'll dust ourselves off but it's been a good cup run."

Man of the Match Sergio Parisse, with a wide smile on his face, now leads Stade Francais up to collect their medals and, in a moment, the trophy.

Gloucester's players trudge up the steps at Murrayfield to collect their runners-up medals.

They performed valiantly in La Rochelle in the semi-final to get to tonight's game.

They wanted Champions Cup rugby next term, via the play-offs over the next few weeks, but their season ends here now.

Italy and Stade Francais captain Sergio Parisse tells Sky Sports:

"We have come through a very difficult season in Paris but this team have come through it. I'm very proud of the team.

"We tried to follow our philosphy. It wasn't easy because Gloucester put us under pressure.

"Maybe we didn't play our best game, but congratulations to the boys.

"I don't want to talk now about problems off the pitch. I'm really proud and really happy."

Stade Francais also maintain their 100 per cent record in games against Gloucester.

That's four win from four for the French side against the Cherry and Whites now.

At last, after four previous losses in European finals, Stade Francais are Challenge Cup winners for the first time.

Gloucester were going for a third victory in the competition, and their second in just three season, but it wasn't to be.

It's a deserved win for Stade Francais. They were the better side in the second half; stronger, smarter and dominant.

Gloucester battled on and on, but the French Top 14 side were almost untouchable between minutes 45 and 75.

It's all over! The French side celebrate.

But Gloucester still need more than a converted try. They won't have time.

A third Challenge Cup triumph for Gloucester is now a near-impossibility.

But Stade Francais are moments away from ending their European final hoodoo, after four losses from four in European finals before tonight.

Greig Laidlaw, of all people, misplaces a pass completely out of play.

Gloucester's time is running out. And Laidlaw's time at the club is running out too. This is now surely his last game for the club, before his summer move to Clermont.
