The last time Wasps, or London Wasps as they were at the time, reached a final, they took home the Premiership trophy when they beat Leicester 26-16 nine years ago.

Eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot a fresh-faced James Haskell next to Lawrence Dallaglio and Josh Lewsey as the then 23-year-old started at blindside flanker.

Wasps just about hold the upper hand when it comes to meetings this season, having won 25-20 when they met at the Ricoh Arena in September and it finished 35-35 in the reverse fixture in February.

They have also met in the Anglo-Welsh Cup, when they both fielded very different sides to their usual starting XV and the Chiefs won 52-5.

Just had a word with both directors of rugby pitchside here at a sun-drenched Twickenham.

Rob Baxter says the "big question" is whether the Chiefs have learnt from their experiences of last year's final, while Dai Young says Wasps will continue to keep to their attacking style regardless of the pressure of today's occasion.

Why should you be looking forward to this game?

Well, these two are the best attacking sides in the league. They are the top two try scorers. And just look at those conditions, perfect for running rugby.

    This should be some game.

From milling about outside Twickenham, it's clear to see the Premiership showpiece is different to most sporting finals.

Yes, there are plenty of Wasps and Exeter shirts, but the number of supporters from other clubs here today is eye-opening. There are Sarries, Leicester, Bath and Northampton fans aplenty, all mixing in.

Maybe they thought it would be their side in action this afternoon, but either way this is certainly a real festival of rugby union.

Breathtaking. Epic. Fiery. Magnificent - take your pick to describe either of the semi-finals.

At Sandy Park, Saracens led until the final moments before Exeter's Sam Simmonds was bundled over to put Chiefs in the final for the second year running.

It also ended Sarries hopes of successive European and domestic doubles.

There was heartbreak for Leicester, but jubilation for Wasps a couple of hundred miles up the road at the Ricoh Arena as Josh Bassett's try two minutes from time won it for Dai Young's men.
