Exeter fans, only one side that have been leading at half-time during a Premiership final have failed to go onto win it.

Wasps fans, you are the only side to be behind after 40 minutes and win the final game back in 2004.

Kyle Utterson: Wasps have been under par so far but this second half could make this one a classic. Great end to the domestic season.

Josh Verrills: Still can't understand the decision to leave Launchbury out of the Lions Tour this Summer. Awful decision. World class player

Loser92: Come on the Chiefs! Win it for Devon!

There were some parallels between that half and the first 40 minutes of last year's final.

Exeter were the team in a state of shock 12 months back, as Sarries took the game almost out of reach.

Rob Baxter's side have learnt from that experience, but that Jimmy Gopperth try on the stroke of the interval means Wasps aren't as far behind as they probably should be.

This time next week the Lions tour will already have got underway with the first match for the 10-Test tour done.

England are also in action this summer when they face Argentina twice in June - with a warm-up match against the Barbarians back at Twickenham tomorrow.

With injuries and suspensions still able to affect both squads, I'm sure Eddie Jones, in attendance this afternoon, will have a keen eye on those impressing today.

For the record, Exeter will fancy converting this lead into a maiden Premiership win given their recent run.

If they do get their name of the trophy today they will equal Leicester's all-time record in the top flight of 17 straight wins.

Will that late try start the comeback for Wasps? Are Exeter looking too in control? Are there two Nathan Hughes' on the pitch?

Desperately what Wasps needed. They tested out Exeter's narrow inside-defence and two good offloads have rescued the half.

Considering their mistakes and lack of fluency in that opening 40 minutes, Wasps will be delighted to be this close to Exeter.

A real Test match feel to the game, as you'd expect, and that was a very enjoyable half.

    More of the same, please.

    That's what they can do.

First Danny Cipriani lays in Tommy Taylor, who offloads to runners and it comes to Jimmy Goppeth for his 11th try of the season under the sticks.

That was slick and sublime. He adds the extras and it's a four point game.

Every line-out has been won by the team throwing it in, until now.

Exeter disrupt Tommy Taylor's throw, win the ball back and hoof it upfield.

Joe Launchbury with a superb turnover for Wasps just as Exeter seem to be getting some momentum in attack.

Ian Whitten's high tackle on Josh Bassett gives Wasps the penalty and they opt for touch rather than a shot at goal.

A bit of kicking tennis between the two teams, but Elliot Daly overcooks his left boot as it goes straight into touch and Exeter will have a line-out on the halfway line.

  16. 'Worrying signs for Wasps'published at 35 mins

    Wasps 3-14 Exeter

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Exeter have been very good. But for Wasps, if your set-piece is creaking then you can't afford to have your big players making unforced errors.

Those errors kill you on the back of shaky set-piece. That's a worrying sign for Wasps. They stayed legal but got shunted back at the scrum.

    Wasps 3-14 Exeter

A man-and-ball tackle on Christian Wade allows Exeter's Stuart Townsend to hack the ball clear and you've got to credit the white wall there for keeping Wasps out.

The Wasps forwards getting into the game more now. The back five of the pack all looking busy and wanting to carry.

They're through 11 phases and are still pressing.

    Wasps 3-14 Exeter

    So close for Wasps.

Elliot Daly's grubber kick takes a wicked bounce up and although Josh Bassett grabs it, the two covering defenders knock him into touch.

Wasps line-out the decision though from six metres out.

    Wasps 3-14 Exeter

What a response by Nathan Hughes who shows what he can do with ball in hand now.

Smashing through players like a tank through a brick wall gets Wasps deep into Exeter territory and they win the scrum from the next play.
