Finally it's Gloucester's turn to come forward, and a scrum penalty gets them to within yards of the try-line.

But Bath defend admirably and eventually get the turnover.

Meanwhile, a clash of heads has left Motu Matu'u on the floor and he's surprisingly been allowed to continue without having the injury assessed off the field...

It has definitely ramped up in the second half, with some really good rugby to watch.

    Bath 27-8 Gloucester

As things stand, Champions Cup qualification chances seem bleak for Gloucester - though there's a crumb of comfort in the fact that top-six rivals Northampton and Harlequins play each other next weekend.

Bath are doing enough to keep their hopes of fourth place alive, but they could really do with the bonus point if they're to give themselves a realistic chance of making the play-offs.

Both sides are starting to use their bench - Anthony Watson is off for the hosts.

    Bath 27-8 Gloucester

Max Clark is on the rampage again for Bath but play is brought back for a penalty.

The kick falls to Rhys Preistland, who makes it comfortably.

Bath are taking themselves out of sight here...

Max Clark, you have just timed your run to absolute perfection.

I can't ignore the offload from Ben Tapuai either, which was right on the money, but Clark made a burst which Glocuester simply could not live with.

The centre moved at incredible speed to get the third try for the hosts, and Rhys Preistland successfully converts.

Unstoppable stuff from Bath and Max Clark...

This doesn't look great for Gloucester's Henry Trinder.

He's struggled with injuries recently and seems to have a knee problem.

"I think we have a serious injury," says referee Matthew Carly, but Trinder is back on his feet and continues for now.

The hosts start strongly, winning a penalty which Rhys Preistland kicks deep into Gloucester territory.

From the lineout Ben Tapuai plays a loopy pass to Aled Brew, who gets the ball down over the line in the corner despite the best efforts of Willi Heinz.

It's another Welshman with a try for Bath, and Rhys Priestland adds the extras.

The boot of Glocuester's Billy Burns gets this second half under way.

Bath have the likes of George Ford to call upon off the bench - how crucial might that turn out to be?

They're about to come back out for the second half at the Rec.

Where do we see this second half going? If it's anything like the latter part of the first half, we could be in for a bit of a treat.

Remember, Bath must win to keep their play-off hopes alive while Gloucester could really do with victory if they're serious about snatching the final Champions Cup place.

This West Country derby took a while to get going, but now things are set up nicely for another 40 minutes.

Remember both teams really need to win if they want anything to play for in their final regular-season game.

Tom Homer has been immense for Bath, who have their noses in front.

  17. Missed penaltypublished at 38 mins

    Bath 10-8 Gloucester

Francois Louw takes the plaudits from his Bath tea-mates as he wins his side a penalty.

But from 40m Rhys Preistland's kick drifts well wide.

All of a sudden we have a game on our hands - is there any way we can push half time back a little?

  18. try

    Bath 10-8 Gloucester

Gloucester look to strike back immediately with a try of their own.

They win a penalty and Billy Burns kicks to the corner.

Bath initially put all the necessary tackles in, but they do nothing to defend against a sumptuous lofted kick from Henry Trinder, which finds Jonny May onside to put the ball down.

Burns is wide with the conversion.

The consummate athlete that is Taulupe Faletau got himself there first. He is a freak of nature. He made that look a lot easier than it is.
