    Just short!

    A metre at most.

One more roll of the dice.

    Turnover!

The Lions have to attack from in their own half.

    Wide it goes.

Eliott Daly is shoved into touch.

But there is a penalty in the backfield.

Daly points to the sticks. It is in his own half. An absolute monster for the replacement, even with his siege gun boot.

    57m to fly....

Patrick Osborne gets up above Jack Nowell as the pair contest a Highlanders box-kick.

This crowd like the rough stuff more than any other so far in New Zealand. Raucous reactions to both the rolling maul try, the penalty at the scrum... and the scuffle that followed.

    He does.

The Lions are staring down the barrel of a second tour defeat.

The Highlanders have got a huge shove on at the scrum, sending the Lions stumbling backwards. Siate Tokolahi has Dan Cole on toast.

    Penalty to the home side!

And a bit of verbal afters. James Haskell getting a bit frisky.

Never mind that. Marty Banks is lining up a kick to put the Highlanders ahead with seven to go...

    He should get it.

Highlanders up to the Lions 22m line as Richard Buckman claims a steepling up and under and then Jimmy Lentjes motors on.

The ball has gone forward through.

Sighs of relief among the travelling party in the perspex box on high.

Lions with the put-in on their own 22m.

    Penalty to the Lions.

Full-back Richard Buckman went in early on a tackle on Jack McGrath.

    This might be kickable.

It won't be Dan Biggar who takes the shot though. He is hobbling off with a dead leg. Owen Farrell is on.

Good turnover work from Sam Warburton, who is still motoring in the final quarter despite that injury.

A bit of aerial ping-pong. That is the sort of wiff-waff the Lions like.

The Lions have a scrum just outside the Highlanders 22m line after Josh Dickson makes a mess of the kick-off.

But the set-piece goes awry with Dan Cole pinged when it should have gone the other way.

The Leicester man is not amused.

Elliot Daly is on in place of Jared Payne at 15.

Lions have to keep playing. Will be a struggle to defend a two-point lead for the final 15 minutes.

  16. try

Try - Highlanders 20-22 Lionspublished at 60 mins

    Liam Coltman (con Banks)

The Highlanders get low, set and moving.

The Lions can't match those body positions or organisation and it is hooker Liam Coltman who emerges from the depths with the ball and a wide grin.

An excellent conversion from Marty Banks as well.

A great start to the second half from the Lions - two tries in 13 minutes and they have equalled the same amount of tries scored prior to this game with that quick flurry.

We are seeing a Lions team that is progressing steadily, with improvement again from the huge victory against the Crusaders. We've seen suffocating defence, brilliant line-speed in defence and a masterful display of game control from Conor Murray and Dan Biggar.

Lions aren't quite roaring but they're looking very tidy.
