I met this man at half-time.

He's got a Kiwi accent, but a leftover Lions fancy dress costume which he's not afraid to use.

He enjoyed his first half. The double thumbs up is for Codie Taylor's incredible pick-up.

More brilliance from the Lions back three who are fully justifying Warren Gatland's faith.

Liam Williams slips an offload to Anthony Watson out of the back of his hand and the Bath winger steps and shuffles up to the 22m.

The ball goes forward from a red hand, but the Lions are giving the All Blacks plenty to think about before they kick deep.

Gareth Jones: What a first half!! Keep ball for longer and Get a few more of the 50/50 calls & Lions can get this

Dr Malcolm Harvey: Breathless. We've weathered some of the storm. We need more magic. But it's still in reach. Terrific Test Match rugby

    Ball lost!

But then regained by the Lions!

And then lost again by the tourists.

It is Wild West time at the breakdown, but it ends with Israel Dagg hoofing the ball up the line and clear to ease the pressure.

    Lions break from deep!

Liam Williams flings the ball wide, Jonathan Davies worms his way through a gap, the All Blacks at sixes and sevens.

The hosts hold out, bit at the cost of a penalty.

Owen Farrell opts for the corner and the potential pushover...

    Ommph!

The two ex-league boys come together and Ben Te'o splatters Sonny Bill Williams with a huge hit, landing him flat on his back and aiming a few choice words at the Kiwi as they dust down.

    A statement of intent?

We are back underway and the Lions start off where they left off.

Elliot Daly gets right underneath Owen Farrell's kick-off.

He knocks on as he challenges Israel Dagg but that was a promising start.

  11. 'All Blacks forwards making too many easy yards'published at 09:31 British Summer Time 24 June 2017

New Zealand 13-8 British and Irish Lions

    Ugo Monye
    Former Lions and England winger

Outstanding first half. The Lions were told to be braver and this was encapsulated by Liam Williams, under pressure in his 22, turning defence into attack in a matter of seconds with Sean O'Brien finishing off and scoring one of the best Lions tries you'll see.

The Lions will take a lot of heart in the changing room at half-time from how they finished that half. The try is clearly the catalyst and is giving them much needed energy and belief.

In the second half they'll have to up their intensity and physicality. The All Blacks forwards are making far too many easy yards around the ruck and the defensive linespeed not where it should be.

The Lions need to take away their thinking time and shut down their space (easier said than done, granted!) but you can only create linespeed by wining collisions. Rugby ultimately is a collision game and the Lions have been second best this half in that department.

A huge second half is needed considering the All Blacks outscore their opponents by a margin of 4-1 in the final quarter.

New Zealand 13-8 British and Irish Lions

    Paul Grayson
    Former Lions and England fly-half

Brilliant half of rugby from the All Blacks, with the Lions hanging on at times, but it matters not if you are in touch on the scoreboard. The difficulty facing the Lions defence is that every New Zealand player has the ability to carry, dummy and use his feet to create opportunity, and their overall understanding of how to exploit space is second to none.

  13. 'One of the great Lions tries'published at 09:29 British Summer Time 24 June 2017

New Zealand 13-8 British and Irish Lions

    Chris Jones
BBC 5 live rugby union reporter at Eden Park, Auckland

The end of a breathless first half as the rain starts to sweep dramatically across Eden Park.

At one point it looked ominous for the Lions as the All Blacks punched hole upon hole in attack, but with one counter-attack Liam Williams justified his selection and the Lions answered any questions about their ability to play ball in hand.

One of the great Lions tries has kept it to within five points at half time and ensured a compelling second half.

How Warren Gatland uses his bench could be decisive.

HT: New Zealand 13-8 British and Irish Lions

It has been rugby of a stratospheric standard, the ball churning out of the breakdown at warp speed, seismic collisions and hordes of support runners.

The All Blacks have been on top in terms of possession and territory, but the hosts defence has been cut to ribbons on a couple of occasions - once in the opening minutes when Elliot Daly almost went in and again for Sean O'Brien's try.

    Sean O'BrienImage source, Getty Images

A five-point lead for the hosts, but they have lost key men in Ben Smith and Ryan Crotty.

This is in the balance and I prefer it to 2005.

A breathless finale to the half as the All Blacks knock on the door once more, but a big tackle from Ben Te'o and some scrapping on the deck from Elliot Daly saves the Lions' bacon.

    Oranges.

If you ever needed a player to justify his selection then Lian Williams' break out counter-attack to create Sean O'Brien's try has done just that. A 90 metre try of the highest quality has dragged the Lions back into this game but the they can’t afford to miss too many kicks as All Blacks 10 Beauden Barrett has his kicking boots on.

Try - New Zealand 13-8 Lionspublished at 36 mins

    Sean O'Brien

    Oh my.

A try from the end of the world from the Lions to set this Test alight.

It is Liam Williams who heeds his coach's words and summons up the courage to run from deep.

A delicious Phil Bennett-style step to sell Kieran Read inside his own 22m and then the Wales full-back is off, darting past Sonny Bill into the open air.

Support comes from Elliot Daly and then Jonathan Davies, before Sean O'Brien plunges over after a lung-busting surge to keep up with play.

No extras from Owen Farrell and that could be crucial in the final accounting.

But momentum is with the tourists.
