Even with the slightly earlier than predicted arrival of Itoje, England still have a far stronger bench to call on in the second half than Australia. George, Marler, Williams, Simmonds, Care, Slade and Rokoduguni would all be expected starters for most international teams.

    Wales 13-6 Georgia

Georgia are trying to counter-attack from their own half.

A deft chip kick is collected by wing Miriani Modebadze but he turns his back instead of running at the Welsh defence and eventually there's a knock-on.

This has not been an exciting encounter. And we bed down for another scrum.

This has not been the most glamorous second half of rugby that you'll ever see.

In fairness to Georgia, they are keeping the ball well and really frustrating the Welsh side, but this game really needs some points.

Rhys Priestland makes it a seven-point game.

Yes, that's right, there's just one try in it.

    Wales 10-6 Georgia

    Richard Williams

They may be outnumbered but the travelling Georgian support is making all the noise. It's the first time their team has played Wales and they are loving it.

    Wales 10-6 Georgia

This is crucial for Wales. They have a scrum inside their own half, and Tomas Francis is being given a right old telling off from the referee. He's not even had a chance to scrummage yet.

That's better from Wales but this Georgian defence is relentless.

Rhys Priestland is lined up and hammered backwards but does well to keep possession.

    Penalty coming for a high-tackle...

Stoney: Worrying lack of respect for the referee from the Australian coach and players, alike.

Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

About ten or fifteen seconds before the players came off the field he's collared the referee's assistants. I was lip reading one of them, he was saying 'no problem, no problem'.

He's turned to the other official and given him a horrible look as if to say 'you know you've made a mistake'

A frantic end to a messy, frenetic first half - the right decision to sinbin Beale for that deliberate knock-on, and a wasted attacking line-out from England in the aftermath. England searching for control and the closer of the two sides to finding it.

Beale knows what he's doing there. He is going for the ball - of course he is, but it's too high risk and Kurtley Beale knows it.

  13. Sin-bin - Kurtley Bealepublished at 15:53 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2017

    England 6-0 Australia

More controversy and Michael Cheika is furiously chewing the ear of the official on the touchline.

Kurtley Beale shoots out a hand as England run a quick tap penalty and knocks on.

Was it a reasonable attempt to catch the ball and run in an interceptions score? Or a cynical slap-down to kill England's momentum?

I imagine he went for it thinking either would work.

But Ben O'Keeffe suspects it was more the latter.

Beale joins Michael Hooper in the bin.

    Wales 10-6 Georgia

Three offloads in a row... from the hosts.

It looks like they've subscribed to Warren Gatland's running rugby, but the Welsh side forgot to sign on the dotted line...

But Wales are bringing on the cavalry with 25 minutes to play.

Dan Biggar, Alun Wyn-Jones, Tom Francis and Aled Davies trot onto the field.

Rhys Priestland stays, as Liam Williams waddles off, head down.

So it's Biggar to full-back, a position he was forced to play against England at the 2015 World Cup. And we all know how that one turned out...

    England 6-0 Australia

A nice little show-and-go from Ben Youngs, Courtney Lawes clambers through the centre of the ruck, England on the front foot.

But England cough up the pill and Australia fly downfield.

    Wales 10-6 Georgia

    Jonathan Davies
Former Wales international on BBC One

As long Georgia are in this game, they are just going to put every effort into getting their forwards into field positions; to try and win penalties.

They haven't looked creative at all, so it's all about where Wales play the game now.

    Wales 10-3 Georgia

Wales are treading on thin ice here. Another penalty at the set-piece for wheeling at the scrum.

Wales captain Dan Lydiate has been told by referee Mathieu Raynal he will continue to reward the dominant scrum.

And that's Georgia at the moment. They couldn't do this, could they?

  18. Missed drop-goal shotpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2017

    England 6-0 Australia

George Ford drops back into the pocket and snaps a drop-goals attempts as England's rolling maul splutters to stop.

But the ball screws wide off the fly-half's boot and wide.

Three to go to the break as Ned Hanigan gets some strapping sorted on his knee.

    Soso Matiashvili

Soso Matiashvili doubles his personal tally for the afternoon, and his side's too.

Four points the difference now, as the crowd are shown a shot of Warren Gatland in the coaches' box.

His arms are crossed and he's looking serious, but is he worried?
