It's a nail-biting finish at Kingsholm as with the time in red Sale Sharks have a lineout five metres out.

However the excellent work of Ed Slater disrupts the visitors' driving maul and the full time whistle sounds.

Saracens went up through the gears as the game went on and looked cool, calm and composed throughout.

Worcester's tries were impressive and despite the scoreline against them Alan Solomons is likely to be pleased with his charges endeavour to come away with a try-scoring bonus point.

    Gloucester 20-16 Sale Sharks

There are just three minutes left on the clock at Kingsholm and Sale gain a vital scrum penalty five minutes out from their own line.

AJ MacGinty eats up the metres and on halfway this is likely to be the visitors' last attacking opportunity, can they make it count and snatch the result?

    Harlequins 31-0 Northampton

Quins retain the ball from their scrum and clear up to their 10-metre line.

There's a big hit from Quins centre Jamie Roberts on Piers Francis in midfield and a bit of a clash of heads.

The Northampton fly-half will need some treatment.

  11. try

Try (Earle)published at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Saracens 46-24 Worcester

It's the hard carrying and physicality of Saracens that's causing Worcester all sorts of issues now.

This time Michael Rhodes rides the tackle before Alex Lozowski is halted by Josh Adams but still Saracens press.

Worcester have committed the numbers in the middle of the park so quick hands from the hosts gives Nathan Earle another stroll in. Farrell’s conversion misses the mark.

Saints can't take advantage from the scrum

Captain Dylan Hartley fumbles, under the watchful eye of England head coach Eddie Jones at Twickenham, and Quins get a scrum about eight metres out from their own line.

    Harlequins 31-0 Northampton

Northampton threaten inside the Quins 22 for the first time in the game after Courtney Lawes does well to gather the kick-off.

Big tackles from Tim Visser and Marcus Smith check their momentum, and all gets a bit scrappy as Saints go through the phases.

Quins knock on and they get a scrum on the 22.

Their best spell of the game so far. Can they come away with some points?

  14. try

Try (Care, con Smith)published at 32 mins

    Harlequins 31-0 Northampton

Quins get their fourth try of the afternoon and secure the bonus point.

The hosts go long from the line-out and, after one push to within a couple of metres, Danny Care picks up, sidefoots the defence, holds of Dylan Hartley and dives over the line under the posts.

    Marcus Smith adds the extras.

Everything is going right for Quins so far.

  15. try

Try (Earle, con Farrell)published at 16:38 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Saracens 41-24 Worcester

Saracens use the full width of the field for this try as they swing it right and then cut back all the way to the left-hand touch line.

The final pass is outstanding from Owen Farrell and Nathan Earle is smiling before he even crosses the try-line.

Farrell adds the conversion and with six minutes to go the result looks safe now for Saracens.

    Gloucester 20-16 Sale Sharks

Gloucester's pack put in a huge shove at the scrum and duly earn a penalty. Billy Twelvetrees' last penalty was from almost the same spot and once again he connects brilliantly with the ball.

With ten minutes to go this game isn't done and dusted but that will make the home fans feel a little bit better.

Another mix-up in the Saints defence.

Harry Mallinder gathers a chipped kick from Marcus Smith but passes into touch when looking for George North.

Line-out to Quins on the five-metre line.

    London Irish 12-20 Newcastle Falcons

With just 13 minutes remaining at the Madejski Stadium, Newcastle drive towards the line in search of a fourth try.

The TV match official has a look, but there are too many bodies in the way. No try given and London Irish hold on.

Both sides have had long spells of pressure in the second-half. At the minutes, hosts Irish are doing all the defending.

  19. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Harlequins 24-0 Northampton

A good scrum from Northampton and they spread the ball wide, but Ben Foden is bundled into touch after crossing into the Quins half.

The visitors can't seem to get going at the moment.

    Gloucester 17-16 Sale Sharks

It's blustery at KIngsholm but Billy Twelvetrees certainly has the read of the wind now as he thumps a penalty directly through the middle of the uprights.

Gloucester have enjoyed the majority of the possession after the break and finally they have something to show for their hard work as we approach the final ten minutes.
