How are you following the action?

John McEnerney: I’ve got a huge battle here in Barcelona to watch the match. My two 8yr old twin boys are more interested in watching Paw Patrol than any history in the making so I’m relying on you Louise to keep me in the loop about the goings on at Twickers via the BBC live text.

You can count on me, John (not Josh, sorry!)

Jonathan Marshall: Last day of the Six Nations! Looking for some exciting rugby from Scotland, a lucky win over the Irish on St Patrick's Day by the English & a good fight from both the Welsh & French in their game

Centre Nick Grigg has had a solid game on his first start in the tournament.

No other Scotland back has carried more than his six rumbles and he has beaten two defenders.

A total of 20 metres gained by the Glasgow man.

  4. Half-timepublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2018

    Italy 17-12 Scotland

Relief for Scotland, the ball is held up in a mass of bodies and they survive.

Italy have put in their best half of rugby in this year's tournament and lead by five at the break.

    Italy 17-12 Scotland

Italy are five metres out from the try-line here as the attack slows up.

It's popped out to Dean Budd who drives his legs and buries his head, and they've got space out wide as Giulio Bisegni darts towards the line.

If he'd given that out Italy could have been in there. Still we go.

  6. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Italy 17-12 Scotland

Scotland are into the ninth phase of a fairly cumbersome attack, but Italy spoil their opportunity with a turnover at the breakdown.

Tommaso Allan kicks to touch with the clock on red, and there will be no half-time oranges just yet.

  7. Italy stronger at the breakdownpublished at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2018

    Italy 17-12 Scotland

    Colin Gregor
Former Scotland sevens captain on Radio 5 live sports extra

Scotland were so dominant in the England game at the breakdown which allowed Finn Russell to pull the strings and bring the backs into the game. Italy have been stronger and slower at the breakdown so far today which has really affected the pace of Scotland's attack.

    Italy 17-12 Scotland

Scotland are looking a bit ragged here. Sean Maitland attempts a high clearing kick but an Italian hand deflects it and the hosts have the wind in their sails now.

Sebastian Negri takes the ball into contact out wide as the Italian crowd sense something here, but it all comes to nothing. It's a turnover by Hamish Watson and Scotland might just close out the half.

Just look at that swing in possession. Italy had 74% in the first 20 minutes but Scotland have worked their way back into this game.

  10. Brown impressing in the loosepublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2018

Fraser Brown got the nod over Stuart McInally to play hooker for Scotland today.

So far he is taking his chance in the loose.

As well as his try, he has made a team-high 12 tackles.

But the line-out has not been as slick as he would like with Scotland losing two of six on their throw-in.

And Italy have got the penalty!

Jake Polledri of Gloucester with a huge turnover as he clamps his hands on the ball to deny Scotland on the line.

Scotland are on the verge of another here. No problems for Fraser Brown at the line-out but Italy stop the maul and Scotland will have to run it.

Finn Russell shows the shoulder and almost skips over the line but he's hauled down by the white shirts of Italy.

It's still there for Scotland as Jonny Gray attempts to bury his way over the whitewash...

    Italy 17-12 Scotland

We're into the 10th phase of this Scottish attack but it's all a bit static. We're no further down the pitch than at the start of this period of possession.

But that's better from the Scottish backline as Finn Russell pops a basketball pass to Stuart Hogg and Huw Jones breaks away down the middle.

But an error brings the game to a halt with Scotland just metres from the line.

Here is a teenage Tommaso Allan in action for Scotland under-18s.

Since then he decided to play Italy - who he qualifies for through his mother - at senior level.

He has been pulling the strings for the hosts so far today, making 14 metres with ball in hand, beating a team-high two defenders and scoring 12 points.

    Italy 17-12 Scotland

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend said before today's game he'd chosen to start Nick Grigg at centre for his ability to find holes down the middle.

“We’ve got to narrow that defence up or take any holes between those defenders and Nick’s very good at that," said Townsend.

And Grigg is proving that point well. Another slippery run down the middle sets Scotland on the front foot and this is a decent period of possession from the Scots.

    Al Kellock

Credit to John Barclay there for keeping the maul going. The referee was generous in how he allowed the pack to edge forward and although the backs were trying to get involved Barclay made the right decision to keep pushing forward. A very important time to score.

    John Barclay, con Greig Laidlaw

    It's the captain.

John Barclay drives round from the back of the maul to dive over and pull his side back into contention. Patient stuff from Scotland.

And Greig Laidlaw is on target from the tee to reduce the deficit to five points.

Alessandro Zanni is penalised at the ruck and Scotland have been offered an attacking platform here.

Stuart Hogg fires the ball into the corner, Jonny Gray collects well at the line-out and the Scots are looking for some momentum now...
