It's an incredible achievement for this team. Irish teams come to Twickenham usually with a lot of respect and a bit of fear. It'll mean so much for them to do it here, to close it out and get over the final hurdle here. There are some world class players in this Irish team - it's very fitting for them to win the Grand Slam.

They dominated with ball in hand and were probably better in every aspect today. Joe Schmidt has taken this team to another level and they always deliver. The challenge is can they keep it going and take it into next year's World Cup.

Delight among the green-shirted in the stand, Blur's Parklife blasting over the PA as the snow swirls and Ireland's players dance and sing.

A Grand Slam that was totally deserved will be celebrated far beyond this St Patrick's Day.

Aidan Irving: Congratulations to Ireland, by far and away the best team in the Championship. England so disappointing with plenty of work to do before the World Cup. Missing Vunipola massively but with our player base, that shouldn't be an issue

Jonathan Marshall: Well done to Ireland to get their pot of gold, the Grand Slam! Deservedly so, England were poor. The Guinness are on you!

Andrew Priestley: On what better day to win only their third Grand Slam title than on St Patrick’s Day, and on what better away ground to do it than at Twickenham? Ireland were head and shoulders above the rest this spring.

    Ireland with plenty to spare.

A third Grand Slam of their history - to follow 1948 and 2009 - and deservedly so.

And, no doubt now, they are the northern hemisphere's best bet for Japan 2019 as it stands.

Time and time again this Ireland team have delivered. The first team to beat New Zealand. The first team to win in South Africa. To come here, with all the pressure on them and win. All credit to them.

Maro Itoje trucks the ball up from a tapped penalty after Ireland are pinged for offside.

The hourglass is almost empty though. The cause is lost and the Grand Slam is already in the bag.

And that bag is Dublin-bound hand luggage.

  10. 'Easier to score'published at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2018

    Matt Dawson

England had at least three phases there with two-man overlaps. It was easier to score than not-to in that phase. They can't seem to walk a try in at the moment. This performance is a long way away from being joint favourites for the World Cup.

    Close, but no cigar.

Mike Brown stretches out a sky-hooking arm to try and get the ball down in the corner, but the England full-back has reckoned without supersonic Sean Cronin.

Ireland's replacement hooker shovels Brown into touch with a superb bit of corner-flagging defence.

Jonny May gets a chance to stretch his legs, brushing off Jacob Stockdale, but Rob Kearney smothers him before he can really flick on the burners.

Ireland's forwards may not have had Georgia's pack served up to them as training fodder, but they have taken England to school at scrum-time regardless.

Another penalty as the white front row gets all squiffy.

    England 10-24 Ireland

    Dennis Hickie
Former Irish wing Dennis Hickie on BBC Radio 5 live

Time is on Ireland's side. All the injuries have caused disarray for them but they do have a squad used to closing games out. I think they have the players in the right positions to hold England out.

  15. Replacementpublished at 74 mins

Jordi Murphy replaces Peter O'Mahony as Joe Schmidt gives his replacements a chance to warm up some chilly hamstrings.

    England 10-24 Ireland

England need two converted tries to level up the score.

Danny Care has done the maths.

The replacement scrum-half taps and goes when awarded a penalty in his own half.

Good option. But that is more streetwise work from Ireland with Garry Ringrose crowbarring the ball out of Elliot Daly's grasp in the tackle.

    Forward. Scrum down Ireland.

    England 10-24 Ireland

    Dennis Hickie
Former Irish wing Dennis Hickie on BBC Radio 5 live

Ireland looking a bit disjointed, particularly defensively now Johnny Sexton has gone off. They've got Jordan Larmour at centre and Joey Carbery at fly-half. They have to hold firm here as England are surely going to run everything.

  18. Missed penaltypublished at 71 mins

    England 10-24 Ireland

Joey Carbery - Ireland's third kicker of the afternoon - drifts his penalty attempt wide.

Joe Launchbury has come on for England in the second row.

This is dedication. One bride and groom have paused their wedding party to watch Ireland win the Grand Slam.

And it looks like they'll have two reasons to celebrate in 10 minutes time...

The individuals have changed plenty with all the replacements, but the indiscipline runs through England like a stick of rock.

Joe Marler plants a big, late shoulder on Joey Carbery. It is a blatant penalty.

And Ireland - on cruise control and well clear -are going to take a shot at goal...
