Kyle: Brilliant test match. Some performance from Ireland so far. Could easily be another high scoring thriller like England and South Africa was last weekend

The Australian crowd have been kept quiet in the most part in this match, out sung by the Irish, but they're roaring as their team takes a quick tap and go.

The gold shirts dash into the Irish half but once again Peter O'Mahony is a rock at the breakdown, holding off three or four Aussies to win the turnover.

The Irish clear their lines. They're still down to 14 remember.

There's a bit of suspicion of a high tackle by the Aussies but the TMO says the initial contact was below the shoulder at least.

Genia is wincing on the sideline, holding his arm which has already been taped up.

    Could his series be over?

A blow for Australia. Scrum-half Will Genia has had to be replaced by Nick Phipps.

    Johnny Sexton

The indiscipline is still costing Australia. Number eight Caleb Timu tackles an Irish shirt off the ball and straight away after closing the gap, Australia gift Ireland a chance to pull away again.

It's a lengthy kick for Sexton but straight down the middle...

He shanks it. Missed opportunity for Ireland.

Ireland are going to play the next 10 minutes with 14.

    Penalty try

This is breathless stuff. Ireland are in huge pressure in the maul and Australia take advantage.

The referee awards the penalty try against the Irish for collapsing the maul illegally and that means seven automatic points to the Aussies.

Respite for the green and gold. Tadhg Furlong is penalised for going off his feet. After 20 minutes of non-stop pressure, Australia finally have their hands on the ball.

Ireland's try scorer Andrew Conway has had to go off with an injury by the way. He was replaced by Jordan Larmour.

"Ireland, Ireland, Ireland," is ringing around Melbourne.

They come again, chasing a long ball. That could have bounced anywhere but falls into Aussie hands.

Still, Ireland can build again. I can't keep up!

So much indiscipline from Australia. Their coach Michael Cheika will be hitting the roof in the stands.

Sexton tempts the Aussie line with a well-timed pass and a yellow-shirted arm stretches out but can't cling on to the ball and knocks on.

    Australia 7-13 Ireland

Australia captain David Pocock, the man who could do no wrong last week, now gives away a penalty shortly after the restart.

That allows Sexton to kick to touch and piles yet more pressure on the Aussies. The green shirts are deep inside the Australian half again.

No mistake from Johnny Sexton. He converts his second penalty in these opening 17 mins.

Marika Koroibete's time in the sin bin is over. That sure cost Australia.

What can Ireland work from this line-out?

Not much... Israel Folau nips in to intercept as the ball is spun between the Ireland backs.

But brilliant from Peter O'Mahony though. The Aussies try to break away but the Ireland skipper locks on at the breakdown and forces the penalty.

What is going on? The Australians are a mess. The ball is pinballing around in the Australian half before they boot for touch to take a breather.

The Aussie scrum breaks down. Ireland changed their entire front row for this game and they couldn't have made a better start.

Sekope Kepu is the man penalised for bringing the scrum down.

This is meat and drink for Johnny Sexton and he slots over the penalty.

    Andrew Conway

Ireland kick to touch after the penalty and play it perfectly. They get the maul rolling in the Aussie 22 until the advantage comes and then Conor Murray plays the moment just flawlessly.

He sees the space for Andrew Conway on the blind-side and the wing leaps over in the corner.

Sexton times the conversion to perfection to add two more points from near the touchline.

What a start to this game.

The Aussie wing is sent to the sin bin. About fair I reckon.
