    Lyon 22-42 Glasgow Warriors

Today's win sets Glasgow up nicely for next weekend's reverse fixture against Lyon at Scotstoun. It's hard to see the French side putting up much resistance given their Champions Cup hopes are now dead.

Glasgow will be looking to claim the maximum five points again and if they do it puts them in a great position to go on and progress from the pool.

We'll be back with live coverage of Glasgow v Lyon next Saturday and another tasty clash on Sunday between Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Thanks for your company today and do join us again next weekend for more Champions Cup rugby.

    Lyon 22-42 Glasgow Warriors

A job very well done from Glasgow.

You wouldn't say Warriors ever really hit top gear, but five tries, a win and a bonus-point away in France is not a bad day's work.

Their tries came from Adam Ashe (2), George Horne, Stuart Hogg and Huw Jones, with Lyon replying through Toby Arnold, Nao Nakaitaci and Charl McLeod.

After Edinburgh's victory over Newcastle last night, both Scottish sides currently sit top of their Heineken Champions Cup pools.

  3. try

    Adam Ashe

That rounds off a good day's work for Glasgow.

From the scrum 5m out Adam Ashe picks up from the base, swats away Charl McLeod like a fly and powers over the line.

  4. Hastings honkerpublished at 76 mins

    Lyon 22-35 Glasgow Warriors

Adam Hastings has been a revelation for Glasgow this season so he has every reason to feel confident as he steps back into the pocket looking to finish this with a drop-goal from around 35m out.

Unfortunately his effort is dreadfully struck, never reaching the height or distance to threaten the posts.

  5. Big hitpublished at 73 mins

    Lyon 22-35 Glasgow Warriors

Siua Halanukonuka goes in with a massive hit on Adrien Seguret and the referee asks the TMO to take a look.

The Glasgow prop is upright in the tackle, there is a lot of force but the referee rules there was no contact with the head and a scrum is all that's called for.

  6. Missed penaltypublished at 72 mins

    Lyon 22-35 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow are awarded a penalty just inside their own half and Stuart Hogg decides it's worth a pop at goal but his effort sails just wide.

  7. try

    Charl McLeod

Fair play to Lyon, they are not throwing in the towel just yet.

Dave Rennie won't be happy when he watches the replay. His men seemed to switch off as Charl McLeod tapped quickly from a penalty and dived under a couple of tackles to score.

13 points in it and this one may not be quite done and dusted yet.

    Tim Swinson

Glasgow will have to manage with 14 men for the next 10 minutes as Tim Swinson is sent to the sin bin.

It came from a Lyon error with Carl Fearns trying an offload that wasn't really on. Adam Hastings did well to work hard to get back, sold a wee dummy that Rudi Wolf bought, and instead of a Lyon line-break, it is a Glasgow try.

  10. try

Try! Lyon 15-35 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 61 mins

    Huw Jones

What about that for an introduction.

Adam Hastings glides away from a few defenders and finds Huw Jones, on the field for all of 30 seconds, running the perfect support line to go in under the posts.

Bonus point in the bag and surely the victory is now too.

  11. try

Try! Lyon 15-28 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 58 mins

    Stuart Hogg

Another try with a hint of controversy.

Peter Horne puts a clever little grubber kick into the dead ball area and it's a foot-race between Charl McLeod and Stuart Hogg.

McLeod makes a hash of touching down though did appear to be pushed by Hogg when not in possession of the ball. Hogg touches down, the TMO is happy and Glasgow go clear again.

  12. try

Try! Lyon 15-23 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 54 mins

    Noa Nakaitaci

Just when it looks like Glasgow might be taking a firm grip on this match they are suckered.

Warriors are finding gaps but Jonny Gray's offload is picked off by Lionel Beauxis who hacks it forward. Nick Grigg covers back and doesn't appear to be given any time to get to his feet but is nonetheless penalised for holding on.

Lyon tap and go quickly and Noa Nakaitaci is able to coast over in the corner.

  13. Penalty: Lyon 10-23 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 49 mins

    Adam Hastings

A really good passage of play from Glasgow.

They return a poor Lyon kick and start moving the home defence around. Peter Horne sells a lovely dummy and breaks through but his offload just fails to find Stuart Hogg.

Play is brought back for an earlier infringement and Adam Hastings kicks the points.

That was a lung-busting start to the half for Glasgow but a really big defensive effort and great cover from Matt Fagerson

  15. Lively Lyonpublished at 43 mins

    Lyon 10-20 Glasgow Warriors

The home side have come out firing in this second half.

Alexis Palisson and Patrick Sobela find holes in the Glasgow defence but and a combination of some poor handling and great cover defence prevents them from converting.

It was just poor defence from Lyon rather than anything too flash from Glasgow - just a short pass from one forward to another, and then they leave the left-hand side of the ruck open. But it is a deserved try from Glasgow

  18. Half-timepublished at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Lyon 10-20 Glasgow Warriors

Not the prettiest 40 minutes of rugby but two tries and a ten-point lead makes decent reading for Glasgow.

Adam Ashe and George Horne have crossed the try-line either side of Toby Arnold's touchdown for Lyon.

Warriors will feel their fitness ensures they will finish strongly. If they can get the next score that could break the home side's resistance and then a bonus-point win will be in their grasp.

If Lyon score next then it is game on.

  19. try

Try! Lyon 10-20 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 38 mins

    George Horne

A try at a good time for Glasgow to release some of the pressure.

It starts with a terrific break from deep from Nick Grigg who slices through and takes Warriors 60m up the field.

Lyon snuff out the initial danger but a few phases later George Horne is able to dart over from close range.

Glasgow added some tempo to the game and made Lyon play from deep, and Glasgow's defence looks really strong. But then they concede a stupid penalty and all their good work is undone.
