  3. 'Changes made to create an edge'- Renniepublished at 12:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2018

    Glasgow v Lyon (13:00)

Glasgow head coach Dave Rennie has been explaining why he made eight changes after last week's win over the same opposition..

"We wanted to create edge," he told BBC Scotland. "We've got good depth and there's a lot competition for places, so we're trusting these guys to do the job today."

As for the dreadful conditions at Scotstoun, Rennie added: "It shouldn't change our approach; we've got a good skill set and we need to play the type of game to get us a result today."

  5. Plus ca change...published at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2018

    Glasgow v Lyon (13:00)

Those of you following last week's encounter in Lyon might have wondered what the response of the French side would be to a third straight pool defeat out of three.

Predictably perhaps, they have changed almost their entire team, with only former France full-back Alexis Palisson - switched to the wing today - and prop Hamza Kaabèche keeping their places.

There is experience in half-backs Jean-Marc Doussain, who won the last of his 17 caps in 2017, and one-cap South African scrum-half Charl McLeod, who was a lively presence when he came on for the last half-hour a week ago, scoring an opportunist try.

But it's safe to assume that Lyon's priorities have reverted to the Top 14, where they lie in fourth place, but with five teams below them within five points in the fight to make the play-offs.

This appears, on paper at least, to be a second-string side.

Stafford McDowall's dad was a second row and he has got a real good physique. He has got a good skill-set and he is a left-footed kicker, so to have that extra option outside Adam Hastings is always a bonus. It is a fantastic opportunity for him today.

  7. Centres of attention for Glasgowpublished at 12:43 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2018

    Glasgow v Lyon (13:00)

Scotland centre Huw Jones returns to the Glasgow line-up today, for only his 15th match - and 12th start - for the Warriors since arriving last autumn.

After a shaky defensive display against Wales, Jones was in good attacking form in Scotland's final two autumn Tests against South Africa and Argentina, and scored a try within 30 seconds of coming on as a replacement in Lyon last week.

He has a new centre partner in 20-year-old Stafford McDowall, one of the bright young things to come through the Warriors academy, while scrum-half Ali Price and wing Niko Matawalu also come into the backline.

If Matawalu is in the sort of form he showed on his 100th Glasgow outing against Cardiff Blues last month, we could be in for a treat.

Warriors also change half of their pack, with hooker George Turner replacing the injured Fraser Brown, who will be sidelined for up to 10 weeks with a knee injury and could miss the start of Scotland's Six Nations campaign.

Prop Siua Halanukonuka, lock Tim Swinson and co-captain Ryan Wilson also come into the side.

  9. State of play in Pool Threepublished at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2018

    Glasgow v Lyon (13:00)

Saracens remain in pole position to progress as pool winners. The English champions head across the Severn Bridge today - which will be free of charge from Monday, by the by - to face Cardiff Blues, also kicking off at 13:00, in fine fettle.

But after a home defeat by Sarries first up, a third two bonus-point win on the bounce today would put Glasgow in a strong position to claim one of the three best runners-up spots, or even to challenge Saracens for top spot when they face each other in the final round of fixtures in January.

  10. Warriors aim to maintain European progresspublished at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2018

Afternoon all. How are your Christmas preparations going? In the festive mood yet? Nailed that special present for your beloved? Hungover from your work Christmas do last night?

However this Saturday afternoon finds you, welcome aboard.

It's a dank, dreich day in Glasgow - the sort of day that makes you want to curl up on the sofa and watch 'It's a Wonderful Life' for the 18th time.

But Warriors have plenty of incentive to inject a bit of vim and vigour into proceedings at Scotstoun.

Another victory, with a bonus-point to boot, will keep their hopes of a place in the European Champions Cup knockout stages bang on track.
