    HT: Wales 16-0 Ireland

    Simon Gleave
    Head of sports analysis, Gracenote

Wales have not led by as much as 16 points at half-time in any Test match for three years. The last time was a 27-0 half-time lead against Italy in 2016.

    England v Scotland 17:00 GMT kick-off

It's a scrum of a different kind at Twickenham where England and Scotland fans are huddling around the big screen to follow the match in Cardiff.

But with England hoping Ireland do them a favour by keeping the title race alive, I imagine it's a bit muted at the moment.

Philip West: Watching Ireland play like this, you have to wonder how the hell they beat the All Blacks and won the Grand Slam last year. They’ve been nothing short of pathetic so far. World Cup contenders? Not a chance.

David Faries: Looks like Ireland might be regretting not closing the lid!

Gareth: Can't remember Ireland showing such a lack of discipline in a long time. Too many needless penalties being conceded.

    HT: Wales 16-0 Ireland

Most of the stats show it's been a balanced first half, but it's the score that matters and Wales have taken their chances when they've come.

The Wales players are playing with great composure. The home crowd might be tense, but the players aren't

  6. Ireland lacking intensitypublished at 15:38 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2019

    Wales 16-0 Ireland

    Tony Ward
Former Ireland fly-half on BBC Radio Ulster

Ireland cannot argue with that score. There were little phases of good play but they are just lacking that intensity that is needed - both individually and collectively.

Wales have one and a half hands on that Grand Slam.

  7. 'Wales far more clinical'published at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2019

    Wales 16-0 Ireland

    Jamie Roberts
Wales international centre on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wales have had the ascendancy at the set piece. They have been far more clinical. It started from the first kick-off. There have been big, big mistakes from Ireland.

John Inverdale informs us, via a voice in his ear I imagine, that Ireland have never come back from more than eight points down against Wales.

It is a long way to the title as well as Tipperary.

They said it would be a nerve-shredder.

Right now, Wales are making this look relatively easy.

    Wales with a penalty!

Cian Healy is ruled to have collapsed a scrum and this is well within the range of both Gareth Anscombe and Dan Biggar.

Ireland were on top in the set-piece early on, but that has turned round now.

This for a 16-point half-time lead for Wales...

    This brain-fade is contagious.

Conor Murray is the latest Ireland player to succumb, booting out on the full after bringing the ball back into the 22m as he attempts to clear from the back of a maul.

Given the conditions out there, 13 points is a mountain to climb for Ireland - especially if they don't get something before half-time.

It's a big, big lead and Wales deserve it too. If I were from another planet and just arrived down here today I would say that the team in red look as though they want it more than the team in green.

    Wales 13-0 Ireland

    Jonathan Davies

Keep chipping away and keep that scoreboard ticking over. Especially with how the defence has gone this year, it's a good position for Wales to be in.
