    Wales 7-0 Ireland

Johnny Sexton slips on his way into a breakdown and is pinged for sealing off. Nothing much to argue about there. Plenty of dirt on the knees of the Ireland 10.

It is out wide and a good 40m out. But Gareth Anscombe is going to have a pop...

  2. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Wales 7-0 Ireland

Josh Navidi compounds the Tadhg Beirne turnover, by giving away a penalty for a high tackle.

    Ireland complete their getaway.

That steal by Tadhg Beirne was as good as three points at the other end of the field.

It is still early in the game but Wales are finding it easier to make those little in roads into the Irish defensive line than Ireland are and all the momentum seems to be with the home side.

This is why Tadhg Beirne has been picked. He's known for his turnover ability. He stays on his feet right until the end. A great let-off for Ireland and that's why that man is in the team.

They know all about that sort of thing at Parc y Scarlets.

Tadhg Beirne, once of Llanelli, now of Munster, secures a brilliant turnover after getting up on the breakdown scene before anyone else.

A key piece of play to knock back Wales from a hugely promising position.

Wales are up to within 10 metres, with big forwards rolling round the corner.

Another score here would be a body blow for Ireland...

Hadleigh Parkes has been in sensational form over the past few games, and he follows his try with what looked like a try-saving tackle on Jacob Stockdale.

Parkes' surge in form happens to have coincided with him writing a column for the BBC Sport website during the Six Nations. Or is it a coincidence? We'll have to ask him next time he writes his column.

Mark: The Welsh team have been tough and gritty but very hard to watch. Hope Ireland can do what England failed to do and drag them out their trenches and force them to play. Come on Ireland!!

Chris Aplin: I may be backing Ireland but hearing the Welsh crowd sing makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

William Hamilton: I'd like to take credit for this great start. I went to my local supermarket in Aarhus and bought Welsh cheddar, thank me later Warren

Ireland have given away a few needless penalties so far. It has been the senior players too. It has given the chance for Wales to build momentum.

George North has picked up a problem.

The Wales wing dips his hand into a ruck and immediately regrets it.

He has hurt his wrist and the medic says his race is run.

He walks gingerly to the touchline and Dan Biggar is on.

Alun Wyn Jones soldiers on after a bit of treatment of his own. Would you expect anything less?

When you're playing Ireland you've got to be watching Johnny Sexton. He'll always be looking at the wingers and he will give them daggers if they're not holding their width. I'm out of breath just watching this.

    What. A. Tackle.

Hadleigh Parkes has earned his post-match pint of squash.

A clever cross-kick from Johnny Sexton picks out Jacob Stockdale and catches the Wales defence flat-footed.

The Ireland wing shrugs off Gareth Davies and pins his ears back, but somehow Parkes managed to reel in Stockdale with the line looming.

    Massive effort.

    Harem scarem stuff.

Ireland apply the pressure in the scrum, the ball spills loose and is scooped up by the men in green.

But Wales intercept and boot upfield. And Josh Adams takes out the covering Keith Earls as he slides into contact.

Nothing malicious, but a penalty to Ireland in their own half.

Ireland apply pressure straight off the kick-off, milking a knock-on from Wales.

But the hosts defence is disciplined and direct.
