You may have wondered why Nicolas Sanchez was not taking that penalty.

The fly-half was replaced by Benjamin Urdapilleta moments before the penalty.

Can the replacement outside-half inspire a famous Argentinean comeback?

The French team just haven't turned up in this half and now the Argentina backs have joined their pack in dominating.

France are making so many errors you think Argentina will be able to apply enough pressure to force them to make more.

The noise is deafening inside the Tokyo Stadium.

The star of the first half, Damian Penaud, concedes a needless penalty as he tries to leap over the ruck to contest for the ball.

That's the advantage and Argentina throw the ball wide but France stifle them in defence.

It's back for the penalty we go.

    Bang!

Romain Ntamack takes his time over a cross-field kick and Marcos Kremer lines up the young fly-half.

He's back to his feet rather swiftly but that was a huge hit and Argentina will have the throw at the line-out.

What an impact from Montoya - he's had three line-outs and been absolutely pinpoint - but the power of the front three players in that driving maul allowed Montoya to get over.

All the momentum is with Argentina in this second half. They have used their forward pack, stopped their mistakes and looked after their own ball.

France have not had possession and been unable to attack the way they did in the first half. Their pack is not big enough to handle it.

    HT: France 20-3 Argentina

It's worth remembering, France finished fourth in the Six Nations this year, but they have definitely announced themselves on the world stage with a flowing first half performance.

Romain Ntamack has been calm and collected at fly-half, but winger Damian Penaud has been the standout performer.

The Clermont man played a crucial hand in both tries and beat more defenders (7) than any other player on the pitch in the opening 40 minutes.

    Elusive.
