Geoff Kay: Manuia le taeao (good morning in Samoan I believe) Being a Falcons fan and having a mate who’s a Bristol fan, I can only support one team here.

Ohh and the small factor of getting the Samoans in the office sweep.

LMW: What on earth is in these Russian heads? The small scrum-half get walloped by a half tonne Samoan and yet it's the Samoan that ends up worse. These Russians are plucked from the wilderness in deep dark Siberia!

Either way, the Samoans need to be more disciplined in the second half.

  6. Half-timepublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Russia 6-5 Samoa

Russia can't make the most of the final attacking opportunity, as the ball is spilled in contact about three metres from the Samoa line.

    That brings half-time.

It's been low-scoring but fairly engrossing first half in Kumagaya.

    Russia 6-5 Samoa

    Two big let-offs for Samoa.

First Tim Nanai-Williams spills a kick over the top inside his own 22, but then Vladimir Ostroushko can't get on the end of it.

Samoa pass the ball back into their own 22, and Ostroushko charges down the kick again, but can't touch down.

Either way we come back to a Russian 5-metre scrum for the knock-on from Nanai-Williams.

The game gets a bit scrappy, and a couple of knock-ons gives the Russians a scrum about five metres inside the Samoa half.

The first scrum breaks down and centre Rey Lee-Lo is back.

Samoa are back up to 14. Russia still have a chance to take advantage - but they'll need to be quick about it.

  9. Missed penalty: Pisipublished at 36 mins

    Russia 6-5 Samoa

Tusi Pisi again misses his attempt at the sticks.

He pulls this one just to the right of the posts, giving Russia a 22 drop-out.

Rey Lee-Lo will be back soon for Samoa.

The Bears are not handling their advantage too well.

They kick the ball back to Samoa, who take their time over their line-out and then enjoy a few phases of possession.

Russia then give away a penalty, and Tusi Pisi will eat up every second he is allowed before kicking at goal from just inside the Bears half.

You've got all the time in the world to drop your body height and hit a little bit lower.

Motu Matu'u is very fortunate that he's got a yellow and not a red card.

    Russia 6-5 Samoa

Russia don't make the most of their first attacking opportunity.

They spread the ball wide to the left but a loose pass from Yury Kushnarev sends the ball to the feet of Vasily Artemyev.

There's a knock-on and Samoa get the scrum about five metres inside their own half.

Stanislav Selskii is back on at hooker for Russia, and Samoa have had to bring on Ray Niuia while Motu Matu'u is in the bin.

Samoa are down to 13 for about eight minutes.

As a referee it's so difficult in the heat of the moment but Rey Lee-Lo is a lucky man.

It worked in his favor that the Russian captain got up straight to his feet, had he stayed down then that potentially would have been looked at differently.

Another huge hit from a Samoan on Vasily Artemyev.

But this time hooker Motu Matu'u - again leading with the shoulder - has done himself damage.

He's hurt himself despite flying in for the tackle.

We'll have another review. There could be another card for the Pacific Islanders.

He might be slightly lucky he's not got a red there.

    Russia 6-5 Samoa

We are going to look at a tackle from Samoa centre Rey Lee-Lo on Russian skipper Vasily Artemyev.

It is high - Lee Lo's shoulder cataches Artemyev's head, but the Russian skipper dips in the tackle slightly.

It's a big call for Romain Poite to make.

    Russia 3-5 Samoa

Russia have the ball and are going through the phases, but it is slow ball after a really good line break from scrum-half Vasily Dorofeev.

A good hit from centre Ray Lee-Lo pushes Vasily Artemyev back.

Then Russia get another penalty at the break down, and a chance to take the lead.
