    Wales 10-19 France

Wales are attempting to grind down the French defence. Big carries close to the breakdown. And they are making yards.

France are off their feet as they soak up a mighty rumble for Alun Wyn Jones.

    Penalty.

And Dan Biggar calls for the tee. Should be an easy three...

    That is mindless.

Even more mindless than Sebastien Vahaamahina's miss-pass which George North intercepted during the Six Nations.

Can Wales take advantage and avenge their 2011 semi-final defeat, which of course hinged on Sam Warburton's sending-off for Wales?

The sub-plots and twisting narratives are piled high here.

There is no point apologising for that at all. You apologise for something you did accidentally. That is deliberate, on purpose and some of the worst foul play I think we've ever seen.

  5. Red card - Sebastien Vahaamahinapublished at 49 mins

    Wales 10-19 France

Jaco Peyper's chat with the video official is short and sweet.

He dishes out a stone-wall red card to Sebastien Vahaamahina for a clear elbow to the head of Aaron Wainwright, who is fine by the way.

France are down to 14 men. Can they defend a nine-point lead for the remaining 30 minutes? That equation does not look good for Les Bleus.

How's he not in trouble there? He's grappled him round the face and then elbowed him in the face! He's off!

Vahaamahina should admit he's got a red card and walk off the field.

  7. Vahaamahina in big troublepublished at 48 mins

    Wales 10-19 France

Sebastien Vahaamahina is in trouble here.

The France second row has been picked up on a replay in the middle of a driven maul, first wrapping his arm around the neck of Aaron Wainwright and then driving his elbow into the chin of the Wales flanker.

    This shouldn't take long...

  8. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Wales 10-19 France

Wales bore into the side of the French rolling maul. Penalty.

And Camille Lopez punts into the corner to do it all again...

  9. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Wales 10-19 France

    Uh-oh.

France make their own luck as a brilliant probing kick from Antoine Dupont catches a flick of Ross Moriarty's finger on its way into the corner.

Les Bleus will have throw-in to a line-out, five from the Wales line...

Happy days if you're in that Welsh camp. If France want to do that - set back from 40 metres out and go for a drop goal - you'd be lapping that up.

  11. Missed drop goal shotpublished at 44 mins

    Wales 10-19 France

    Oi oi!

Camile Lopez drops back into the pocket, 35m out, and snaps a drop-goal attempt. It drifts just wide, but it is a sign of France's tactics.

Enough of the fancy fizzy stuff, time to brick in Wales three points by three points.

  13. Postpublished at 41 mins

Liam Williams claims his own counter kick to give Wales some momentum, but Damian Penaud bags a loose pass from Hadleigh Parkes down a crowded blindside corridor to stem the red tide.

  14. Kick-offpublished at 40 mins

    Wales 10-19 France

    A change for France.

Camile Lopez is off the bench and into the 10 role in place of Romain Ntamack. More precision off the tee, less ambition with the ball in hand.

Sensible call from Jacques Brunel as his side attempt to ride this lead though to the semi-finals?

    We are back underway...

    HT: Wales 10-19 France

It has been a poor half from Wales. They've not got into any sort of game plan, not got any set pieces, they've been defending for a long time and really doing what they shouldn't do and give the likes of Huget, Medard ball to hang on to. Defensively they really have to tighten up. They're losing that physical confrontation.

Luke: Wales lucky they are playing France. If they played anyone else they would have had 40 points put on them. Not a contender for the WC playing like a 3rd tier side

If Wales continue to give France an opportunity to break the game up, either with poor kicking on the field or with turnover ball they are going to get punished. The right French team have turned up. Whether they turn up for the second half is a different question, I guess...

    HT: Wales 10-19 France

    Tom Shanklin
Former Wales international on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wales got off lightly. They were gifted a try by France but they won't panic at all, they'll draw from their experience. They were 16 down against France in the Six Nations and they won. They're fit but the accuracy of kicking really has to improve.
