That emphatic Exeter victory will have registered around Europe and give them belief this can finally be the year they leave their mark on this competition.

It's back to league business next weekend and then an all-English affair with Sale in round three of the Champions Cup pool stage.

Life doesn't get any easier for Glasgow. They face Leinster next weekend in the Pro14 before travelling to face La Rochelle as they seek to remain in the hunt for the Champions Cup quarter-finals.

When you’re up by three away to Exeter, that’s when you know the first five minutes, the first 30 seconds, are so important. They needed to curb that ambition of that occasion. Whoever catches the ball if you’ve got time, either get it clear or if not give it to George Horne or Adam Hastings.

They’re doing a fancy play and being away from home against Exeter is not the time for that. From leading at half time, 90 seconds later the game has flipped on its head. When Exeter have a lead, that's all they need.

Glasgow played well in the first half. They were tight, played a methodical game and a low-risk one and had control.

At the start of the second half, they tried to force it. They played 50/50 passes and they stopped looking after the ball – something they were doing well in the first half. They invited Exeter into the game by dropping passes, spinning the ball and then Slade gets the try.

It was entirely Glasgow’s own fault and that put Exeter back in the game. It gets the crowd up again. It was 17-13 and they looked like a team that was trying to chase the game.

I don’t know what came over them. Then it’s 21 points scored for Exeter in 20 minutes. Glasgow go from a team that were controlling the game well and frustrating Exeter. Then they just hand the impetus to Exeter on a plate.

Exeter were exceptional after the break and are now in command of this pool.

Your last experience of the game is positive. From that point of view,it’s good. But there’s been little in this second half that’s been worthwhile. About every facet of the second half has been really poor.

Mark Fagerson was tipped to go to the World Cup and disappointed he never went and hasn’t kicked on and showed them they were wrong. Scott Cummings has lacked a bit of consistency. Adam Hastings hasn’t even been average this second half, he’s just been really poor.

After an evenly-matched opening period Exeter showed their class in the second-half and put Glasgow to the sword.

Chiefs secured a bonus-point through tries from Henry Slade, Jonny Hill, Sam Simmonds and Tom O'Flaherty, with touchdowns from Nick Grigg and George Turner ultimately proving to be nothing more than consolation scores.

Exeter are the team to beat in Pool 2.

Exeter look to put the final nail in Glasgow's coffin and Jack Nowell fends off Kyle Steyn and drives for the line but as he falls towards touch he grounds the ball inches short of the try-line.

It looks like Glasgow are going to get nothing out of this second half. That aggression of the Exeter players driving them back, nudging them back in defence.

All of a sudden Peter Horne throws that intercepted pass and it changes the dynamic of the game again. It’s been a long second half. Dave Rennie will be furious and the players will be furious with themselves.

Really disappointing from Glasgow after a hugely encouraging first half. They had a lead and were looking good, but they’ve had a nightmarish, mistake-ridden second half.

They completely went away from what they were doing in the first 40, the very things that put them in front and the things that were frustrating Exeter. Suddenly, they started throwing 50-50 passes and stopped looking after the ball.

From leading at the break, they allowed Exeter to get a five-pointer while taking zero points themselves. They were poor in the second half last week against Sale and managed to get away with it. Not this time.

Exeter go down to 14 after repeated infringements but they are in no mood to give Glasgow anything late in the game.

Warriors hammer at the line through Scott Cummings and Chris Fusaro but there is no way through and Exeter manage to clear their lines.

The match stats have just shown that Glasgow have had 0% - that is zero percent - territory in the Exeter 22 in the second half.

Perhaps Ali Price was made aware of that and embarks on a run deep into the Exeter red zone. The home side infringe and Adam Hastings kicks to the corner.

It was a body-check from Glasgow substitute lock Kiran McDonald that so intrigued the officials. The big man gets 10 minutes in the sin bin for his antics, Joe Simmonds pops over the penalty and Exeter disappear even further over the horizon on the scoreboard.

To a fair extent, Glasgow have been masters of their own downfall. Why were they forcing passes in their own half early after the restart? They didn’t do it in the opening 40 and it was working. A soft penalty given away brings another try, inevitably from a driven lineout and a poor box kick leads to a counter attack for Exeter’s fourth score. Having been tight and disciplined in the first half Glasgow have made a series of blunders in the second. Exeter scored 21 points in the opening 20 minutes of the second half. All over.

The referee has been alerted to an incident by the TMO but despite several replays it is unclear what they are looking at.

It's a shame it was called back as Tommy Seymour took Glasgow up to the halfway line and they were threatening to break into the Exeter half for what seems like the first time in the second period.

"I think Glasgow’s biggest problem at the moment is Adam Hastings. I think he’s been all over the place in this second half.

"His management is poor. I’d put him back to full back and let Peter Horne control the game. He’s been running all over the place, his kicking game’s been awful. Tactically he’s not getting it right. He looks like an average player and not good enough for this level in this second half."

Stuart Hogg leaves the field to a warm reception from both sets of fans.

He's not been at his electric best but has had a few nice touches and helped create space for others backs to do some damage.
