Exeter’s stats of tries scored through their forwards are quite something. Since the beginning of last season they’ve got 66 tries from their pack - 30 of them from the back-row and 24 from the front-row. Exeter will want to suffocate Glasgow They’ll want to pin them back in their own 22 and use their good ol’ boys to batter their way through. This will be a monstrous test of Glasgow’s mettle

  6. 'Exeter are going to smash Glasgow'published at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Exeter v Glasgow (15:15)

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

"Physically I think for 80 minutes Exeter are going to smash Glasgow to smithereens. If Glasgow win here, it’ll be one of the biggest upsets in European rugby for a couple of years.

"The Exeter forwards look big, they’ve got big chests and they're wide at the shoulders. Their captain, hooker Jack Yeandle, looks like a man who’s just came out of prison. He looks like a guy that if you saw him walking down the street, you’d cross the road. He looks like an absolute monster of a guy."

It’s a perfect winter’s afternoon for a big game - we had rain this morning, but it is dry now and Sandy Park’s surface looks in great condition for a game of free flowing rugby.

The atmosphere is building here for a pivotal game in this group.

  10. Tough test for Glasgowpublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Brent Pilnick
    BBC Sport at Sandy Park

Exeter go into this game on the back of a very rare home loss to Bristol when they last ran out at Sandy Park.

They had last lost at home back in February and back-to-back home defeats are all but unheard of in these parts.

With Exeter welcoming back England and British Lions winger Jack Nowell, along with Henry Slade, Hogg and Nic White in the backs today will be an incredibly tough test for Dave Rennie’s Warriors.

  11. 'We have to be sharp' - Renniepublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Exeter v Glasgow (15:15)

Dave Rennie has been speaking to our man Stuart McFarlane and the Glasgow head coach says three wins on the spin has given his men a bit of a bounce going into this one.

“We’ve got a bit of confidence about us and last week, while we got the win (against Sale), we know we’ve got a lot more in us.

"I thought we were excellent up front - the line-out, scrum, set-piece was great. We stole a lot of ball and caused a lot of mayhem at scrum-time. We know Exeter are fantastic up front and we’re going to have to be sharp again.

“English sides are big and they tend to try and bully you so we need to be able to stand up to that. We play a game that can hopefully move them around a little bit but we’ve got to be smart in these conditions. I’d say there will be a little bit of kicking today.”

The Warriors arrived a little while ago and look really focused for today’s clash.

It’s a massive game in terms of this pool - with both sides having won their opening game this afternoon’s winner will be in the box seat to progress from this group.

And don’t forget the small matter of Stuart Hogg returning to face his former club....

  14. The line-upspublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Exeter v Glasgow (15:15)

England winger Jack Nowell replaces Alex Cuthbert on the wing as the Chiefs make just one change from the side that inflicted a first home defeat of the campaign on La Rochelle last time out.

Glasgow also make one change to the side that beat Sale.

Chris Fusaro replaces flanker Callum Gibbins, who injured his shoulder in the win at Scotstoun.

Exeter: Hogg; Nowell, Slade, Whitten, O'Flaherty; Simmonds, White; Hepburn, Yeandle, Williams, Dennis, Hill, Ewers, Vermeulen, Simmonds

Glasgow Warriors: Seymour, Tagive, Grigg, Johnson, Van der Merwe, Hastings, G Horne; Kebble, Brown, Z Fagerson, Harley, Cummings, Wilson, Fusaro, M Fagerson.

  15. Early Glasgow reunion for Hoggpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Exeter v Glasgow (15:15)

After nine years lighting up Scotstoun as Glasgow's livewire full-back, Stuart Hogg lines up against Warriors today in the colours of his new side Exeter.

The Scotland star made the switch to the Chiefs after a disappointing World Cup for Gregor Townsend's squad as a whole and the player individually.

However, he has adapted to life at the English Premiership well, sitting second on the lists for clean breaks and metres gained in the league this season.

Dave Rennie knows his team will have to keep a close eye on their former colleague, though he has suggested Hogg has frailties in his game that his men can exploit.

  16. Sandy Park showdownpublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Exeter v Glasgow (15:15)

Every round of Champions Cup rugby throws up a host of cracking matches, but this one must be right up there for game of the weekend.

Both back-lines possess game-breakers aplenty, but with rain falling in Devon the conditions could play into the hands of Exeter's exceptional pack.

When these sides last met in this competition at Sandy Park in 2017 it was the relentless powerful carries from the Chiefs forwards that ultimately wore Glasgow down, and Dave Rennie has warned his men they cannot afford to get sucked into another arm-wrestle.
