  4. What is happening today?published at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2020

    Saracens v Racing 92 (13:00 GMT)

Relegation drama aside, this match is decisive in Saracens' immediate Champions Cup future.

Champions Cup maths is never easy, but basically Sarries need a bonus-point win today to claim a quarter-final place as one of the three best-placed runners-up.

If they draw and earn a four-try bonus point, they will advance unless Gloucester beat Toulouse later today.

If Sarries lose or draw without a bonus point, their Champions Cup campaign is over.

Racing 92 have already secured their place in the last eight but can earn a home quarter-final with victory today.

Everyone wants them to open their books. Everyone wants to understand what's happened. Maybe the club hasn't done that to protect the players, maybe it's because they've done so much wrong through it. Ultimately it's not the players' fault.

It's going to be the last time we see this great Saracens side because players are going to have to go elsewhere. Players need to be playing in top-tier rugby, they cannot survive in the Championship.

  8. The story so farpublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2020

    Saracens v Racing 92 (13:00 GMT)

If you're not up to date with the latest in the salary cap saga, here's a quick recap.

Premiership Rugby released a statement on Saturday evening announcing that Saracens will be relegated at the end of the season because of persistent salary cap breaches.

Sarries had already been deducted 35 points for the current Premiership campaign and fined £5.4m for three seasons' spending above the cap.

Saracens said this morning that they accept the relegation and "apologise for the mistakes made".

It's almost a solemn feeling. Everyone doesn't know what to make of it, no one's really talking. It's a really strange atmosphere here today.

So. Just another quiet afternoon of European rugby at Allianz Park.

Not much to talk about then...
