Thanks for your company this evening as England came away from a stormy Murrayfield with a priceless victory which keeps their Six Nations hope alive.

Tomorrow, France host Italy in the final match of the second round. There's then a week's break, followed by:

• Italy v Scotland
• Wales v France
• England v Ireland

Should be tasty!

Stewart: Stuart Hogg has to be dropped for the next Six Nations game. Two game changing horrendous mistakes, which were both simple catches.

Andrew: Stuart Hogg struggling with grounding the ball again this week! Not a great example set by the captain in successive weeks.

There is a favoured line in sport about winning ugly. That was a game that could crack mirrors. At times it was as if it was the first game of rugby union that some players had experienced. Eddie Jones won't care. Ugly looks beautiful when you've just got your championship hopes back on track.

There were 74 kicks from hand in total at the match at Murrayfield.

England prop Ellis Genge told BBC One: [On the emotion of scoring the winning try] "I don't know, I can't remember. It was 20 minutes ago and it was all a bit of a blur, it happens quite quick. We played well and luckily I was the one that picked it up. Quite a few of the boys are getting drug tested so it's quite quiet in the changing room.

"We are buzzing to win but there is more to come. We had a bump in the road last week and people were saying we were not good enough. It's classic, you have a lot of sausages that say things that come to their head. What are they on about? We go away and win in Scotland in the rain and they are full of praise again. I hope we have shut them up."

England head coach Eddie Jones on BBC One:

"Apart from 15 minutes we dominated the game. We had a few poor kicks but we dominated possession and we finished it off which we didn’t do last week.

"It was an old fashioned Calcutta Cup game, swirling wind and an aggressive crowd without manners.

"There a lot of growth for us, I under-prepared the side for the first game but we'll get stronger as the weeks go on."

After two years locked in the Murrayfield trophy cabinet, the ancient Calcutta Cup is heading back to London.

Scotland coach Gregor Townsend said: "I thought the way we played in the second half was excellent, given the conditions. To show what we did for the first 15 minutes to force errors and penalties was good. It was just that five minute period that England got into our 22 that we have to remedy.

"In those conditions, you are often better off not having the ball. We haven't had a game in the rain for years and it's hard for players. These are international class players and it shows how hard it is."

Jamie: Two games that were there for the taking. Two missed opportunities. Two points instead of eight. This could have been a very different tournament.

James: What a cracking game. In all fairness I'd love Ellis Genge to start at 1.

Scotland captain Stuart Hogg on BBC One: "We're gutted. We worked incredibly hard but came up short. England managed to control the ball and play in the right areas.

"Credit to England who squeezed us in our own half. We didn't make the most of our opportunities.

"We've done some good things in the last couple of games and will get back to the drawing board on Monday."

England captain Owen Farrell told BBC One: "We are happy with the performance. To come up here with the conditions and the atmosphere, we knew it would be tough. We stuck at it and our attitude was good throughout.

"The wind was unpredictable and it made the ball go out on the full a few times but the most pleasing thing was our attitude. We grew as the game went on."
