That actually came from a pretty decent Italian attack, they tried to keep the ball alive...

As soon as Hoggy gets the ball he shows real class. Italy full-back Jayden Hayward was completely gassed.

Hogg did the safe thing and kept two hands on the ball to finish.

Scotland survive another lovely Italian counter-attack after Ali Price kicked out on the full.

Italy took another quick line-out and get themselves up into the 22 after shipping it wide to Matteo Minozzi, but they're penalised.

Three scrum penalties won by Scotland already. They win the line-out and can attack from the half-way line.

Aaaaand breathe, Scotland pinch the ball. Ali Price box-kicks clear and when Italy come again Hamish Watson and Jamie Ritchie tag-team lock Niccolo Cannone to hold him up and get the scrum.

The move breaks down but advantage was being played. In at the side of the ruck again. Scotland's discipline has been suspect.

Poor kick from Adam Hastings but it was read well by the Italians. Stuart Hogg slips and that's the problem, that lets Mattia Bellini through. It was good scramble defence in the end.

Fly-half Tommaso Allan kicks right into the corner after Scotland were pinged for offside. Huge chance for the home side .

What a counter by Italy!

Scotland thrashed away without making much ground and Adam Hastings kicks possession away. Matteo Bellini charges down the pitch, then offloads beautifully to Jayden Hayward. But Scotland manage to recover and dump Braam Steyn into touch on the left-wing.

On a day like this they need to get away from white-line fever. They had eight, nine phases attacking the try line and weren't going anywhere - have the confidence to go through hands and they'll get more out of it.

Oh dear, oh dear. Is that an omen? Adam Hastings sclaffs a relatively simple kick wide. Wasteful.

Scotland batter away for a few phases as Stuart Hogg and Ali Price go close, but there's a knock-on.

It's been a theme of the tournament that Scotland are wasteful in the opposition 22 and that continues. It was a nice line-out move over the top that brought about the attack, though.

Early scrum for Scotland on halfway as Italy lose the ball forward. The sun in Rome really is glorious and it could cause a few problems for those in the back three attempting to catch high kicks.
