  1. Ireland waste line-out chancepublished at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    England 17-0 Ireland

Ireland's execution under Joe Schmidt tended to be as spotless as a surgeon's scalpel.

    That wasn't.

James Ryan with the clean take, but Conor Murray takes too long to pull it out the furnace and England forwards flood round to muddy the picture.

  2. Ireland up to within 10mpublished at 44 mins

    England 17-0 Ireland

Ireland with the upper hand as the set-piece starts to spin. Jaco Peyper's arms pops up their way.

Penalty rifled down to within 10m of the England line...

  3. 'Ireland not running onto the ball'published at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    England 17-0 Ireland

    Jamie Heaslip
Former Ireland number eight on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

What's quite frustrating is Ireland are not running onto the ball, they're taking it standing still. With the line speed England are bringing, it's quite easy. It seems like something so simple, but sometimes players forget a little bit.

    England 17-0 Ireland

    Matt Dawson

I might have a guess at who had a half-time rollicking... Johnny Sexton, he might have had a word with himself.

  5. First 10 vital for Englandpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    England 17-0 Ireland

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Ireland look like a team that if they don't get the next 10 minutes right, they really are in trouble. Andy Farrell's brow is considerably more furrowed than pre-game.

  6. Postpublished at 42 mins

    England 17-0 Ireland

Maro Itoje strips the ball in contact as Dave Kilcoyne has his pocket picked. That is a vital turnover as England were being forced into reverse.

Jordan Larmour is down having a bit of treatment after suffering a knee tweak in contact. He is OK to go though.

Nate H: Ireland need to be brave and bold. It’s the start of the World Cup cycle and one that Sexton won’t be playing in. He is a wonderful player. I admire him greatly. But he needs to give way for other to be bloodied.

Said Madrid: Very flat irish team, no courage, heart or determination. A walk in the park for england so far.

  8. Kick-offpublished at 41 mins

    England v Ireland (15:00 GMT)

England mess up the restart, George Kruis and Tom Curry, who I have just noticed is sporting a brutal undercut up top, get their wires crossed.

A set-piece, 30m out, for Ireland to try and kick-start their comeback.

  9. 'A perfect half for England'published at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    HT: England 17-0 Ireland

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

That's a perfect half from an England point of view. They've physically domninated, tactically and technically dominated, and they're dominating on the scoreboard.

  10. 'England's defensive effort has been supreme'published at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    HT: England 17-0 Ireland

    Matt Dawson
England World Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

England's defensive effort has been supreme, but Ireland have shown nothing. Ireland are just ponderously going into the midfield and England have got the bulk to soak that up at Twickenham, all day.

Are these trophies slipping through Ireland's hands?

The tactics have paid off. With having an extra 13, you have the vision and the ability to read the game a bit better. And he's got wheels. No one doubted Jonathan Joseph was a quality player, it's just what else is in England's armoury?

  14. 'England are winning the battles'published at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    HT: England 17-0 Ireland

    Jamie Heaslip
Former Ireland number eight on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Can Ireland come back? Yes, they can, but they have to be on point and have their mind in a very different place. They have to change the way they're attacking, and defensively they can't give England that free rein. England are winning the combat battles.

Javel Bleach: I always thought appointing Andy Farrell as coach was going to come back & smack Ireland in the face. Fait accompli. Get rid as soon as the France-Ireland game is over.

Arguably the worst half of rugby I've ever seen from Ireland in 15 years of watching them. Absolutely atrocious.

    Calum

  17. 'England reading Ireland like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'published at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    HT: England 17-0 Ireland

    Matt Dawson
England World Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Ireland have got to change their intensity, their tactics. They've got to be able to make better decisions in better areas on the pitch, because at the moment England are reading them like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

  18. Half-timepublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    England 17-0 Ireland

The half-time whistle blows as Ireland knock on and Kyle Sinckler gives the offending green shirt a patronising slap on the back and launches into an almighty bit of chat towards the rest of the Ireland team.

I'm not sure what the prop was saying, but Maro Itoje had heard enough to give him his own private escort back to the sheds.

  19. 'Every England player is a making a metre'published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    England 17-0 Ireland

    Matt Dawson
England World Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Every single player in a white jersey is making a metre, or two, or 20. It completely contrasts the way Ireland are playing, where pretty much every carry they're making negative metres.

  20. Penalty - England 17-0 Irelandpublished at 38 mins

    Owen Farrell

Andy Farrell looks on grimly from the Ireland coaches box as England captain Owen pings it through the middle from bang in front.

It is a long long way to victory, as the song sort of goes, for Ireland now.
