It was far from a thrilling encounter, with the wind playing a big part in proceedings, but Gregor Townsend and Scotland won't mind one bit.
It wasn't the day of celebration hoped for Alun Wyn Jones, as he became the world's record cap holder with 149 Tests, and for Wales that is now five straight international defeats under Wayne Pivac.

Breakdown was the big difference - Pivac

Wales head coach Wayne Pivac said: "Obviously we're very disappointed. It was difficult conditions, you saw that with the lineouts, I don't think we got one straight for the first two or three from either side, but certainly both teams had to play in it.
"I thought the breakdown was the big difference today. Last week it went in our favour and this week it went the other way.
"We had worked quite hard on that during the week but certainly we need to have a look at that area of the game and make sure we get it right for the next game.
"We're excited by the group of players that we have and there's a lot of good young players coming through putting on pressure. One got an opportunity today and I thought Shane Lewis-Hughes played very well.
"Certainly now we put a line in the sand and have to look forward to the Autumn Cup. We're obviously disappointed with this result and we have to make sure in the next game we improve in the areas that we need to and make sure we get a much better performance."
Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend said: "At times it wasn't the prettiest game to watch but I was really pleased with the energy in the second half.
"As the second half wore on we started to get rewards, the bench had a big impact and I'm delighted with the effort.
"We have players who can play in multiple positions, are they were all part of this winning performance.
"There is still a lack of cohesion at times but the fundamentals are there and we know with some of the individuals in our squad we can do great things in attack."
They'll be hugely disappointed, especially for Alun Wyn Jones, he's a true warrior and a great of the Welsh game.
There were positives. I thought defensively and in the contact area we were a lot better, but discipline cost us.
At the end of the day you can't be giving that amount of penalties away against a very good Scottish side.

Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones said: "Congratulations to Scotland and the way they ground out the win in the last 10 minutes. Credit to the brand and the game they've developed.
"It was tight throughout and unfortunately we were on the wrong end of the performance today.
"You could say we've had a six month period between our last Six Nations match and this one, but there's no excuse.
"I thought we were better in patches today, but ultimately the performance got away from us and it's not good enough."
Scotland got it done. I'm delighted for them because they were the better side in a desperately disappointing game.
We look for signs of a side getting better and maturing and we saw that in the last 10 minutes.
The way they ran the clock down and gave Wales no way back into the game was brilliant.

The system is full of errors, the spacing is wrong, the things we all took as a given under the last regime have all fallen away.
You want to be fighting that fight on the gain line and we're on the back foot. The fundamentals of our defence which have carried us through the last few years have disappeared, we need to get it back to where it was.
On the contrary, that was Scotland's best defensive performance is a Six Nations, they conceded on average twelve points per game.
