Exeter are so relentless, so patient, so confident in what they do. They really are formidable on home turf.

Small Man Peaky: The ref is killing this game. He's giving Maunder 6+ seconds after telling him to use the ball. Just call "ball out" and 9's will box kick quicker.

That concludes an entertaining first half.

All signs were pointing to a comfortable Exeter win before kick-off but Saints are definitely still in the tie.

That is such a brave play. To bring the full weight of the pack peeling round the front and into five-metre channel is done really rarely because by doing so you are flirting with touch.

Henry Taylor snipes through a gap in the Exeter defence and Saints sense another score late on in the first half.

They're just five metres out again, but Chiefs win the penalty on the ground.

That will probably be that for the opening half.

Now then.

Saints have the penalty inside the Exeter five metre line, but Dan Biggar decides to pop the ball into touch.

A chance for the visitors to show their intent, perhaps?

Saints are pushed back but they retain possession on the halfway line.

They have seen plenty of the ball in the last few minutes but they are failing to penetrate that Exeter line.

Northampton Saints are showing plenty of resilience this afternoon and they surge deep into the Exeter half once more.

The hosts steal Saints' line-out but the box kick is well collected by Henry Taylor just outside the 22.

That pick and go game is so hard to stop from Exeter. They are so patient with it as well. It is a real weapon to their game.

Exeter are flexing their muscles now as they barrel through the phases.

The dangerous Tom O'Flaherty throws a dummy and gains valuable yards but the Saints defence remains resilient for now.

I just love watching Henry Slade with ball in hand, he is such a dangerous runner. And Jack Maunder's support line as a scrum-half was superb. You can never count Exeter out.

Defending deep inside their own half, Saints smother the Exeter rolling maul and win the scrum.

Again, the decision is met by a raw from the men in green and black. They're up for this!
