    Toulouse 36-8 Ulster

A penalty and a kick down into the Toulouse 22m...nope Michael Lowry has overcooked it. The ball bounces dead and the game is done.

This is summer sevens tournament stuff now.

The game is so open and there are a lot of tired legs with both teams running the ball and using the full width.

A timely John Cooney hand intercepts the final pass as Toulouse look set to stroll in...

  8. 'Cooney keeps his width'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Toulouse 36-8 Ulster

    Tony McWhirter
1999 Ulster European Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Ulster had four attackers against three defenders and John Cooney just keeps his width.

  9. try

Try - Toulouse 36-8 Ulsterpublished at 70 mins

    John Cooney

Not the normal way he scores them.

John Cooney, stuck out on the wing since that injury to Stuart McCloskey, is picked out by Michael Lowry's well-weighted cross-field kick.

It is a simple scoot up the line and in for the visitors' first try of day.

The game is up as a contest now though.

  10. try

Try - Toulouse 36-3 Ulsterpublished at 66 mins

    Thomas Ramos (con Ramos)

The pass to Sofiane Guitoune initially looks a dud.

But the Toulouse centre gathers a ball thrown behind him and pirouttes through contact and into space.

Support lines buzzing around him with the Toulouse backline flying like the Red Arrows.

Guitoune is half-stopped by Jacob Stockdale but pops it up for Thomas Ramos to saunter in.

    Toulouse 29-3 Ulster

Ulster are looking tired now. Centre James Hume coughs up the ball in the face of the red wall.

  12. 'The rugby IQ is sensational'published at 14:03 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Toulouse 29-3 Ulster

    Tony McWhirter
1999 Ulster European Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Pita Akhi takes it on the spin and knows he is running out of room, but he simply drops it onto the boot.

It just pops up beautifully for him and the rugby IQ is sensational. It's the appreciation of where he is on the pitch but also the skill level to pull it off.

  13. try

Converted try - Toulouse 29-3 Ulsterpublished at 62 mins

    Pita Ahki (con Ramos)

Toulouse's sublime individual skills open up a route to the try line once again.

Yoann Huget claims a kick over his head under pressure from Rob Lyttle.

Huget flips it out of contact to Pita Ahki who is wrapping around in support.

Ahki drops it onto his instep as the cover comes across and wins the race to the bobbling ball to score. Ramos, now with his radar fixed, clonks over the conversion.

    Toulouse 22-3 Ulster

Ulster are keeping the phases going. But they are not making much of an impression on this Toulouse defence...

  15. Replacementpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Toulouse 22-3 Ulster

Toulouse are rolling new tanks onto the lawn.

Second row Joe Tekori, who has had an excellent game, is replaced by Emmanuel Meafou.

    Toulouse 22-3 Ulster

    More problems for Ulster.

Stuart McCloskey has admitted defeat in his attempts to stay out there.

He is off and Alby Mathewson is on.

Mathewson goes into scrum-half and John Cooney is going to go out to the wing.

With Billy Burns having gone off injured in the first half, it is a very patched up backline for the visitors.

  17. 'Classic Toulouse'published at 13:49 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Toulouse 22-3 Ulster

    Tony McWhirter
1999 Ulster European Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

John Cooney's box kick is a few metres too long. Antoine Dupont runs a clever trail line down the back and he has too much for Stuart McClosky.

It's classic Toulouse and it's lovely to see the counter-attacking rugby.

  18. try

Converted try - Toulouse 22-3 Ulsterpublished at 48 mins

    Antoine Dupont (con Ramos)

Stuart McCloskey is really struggling out there with an elbow knock.

The Ulster centre was bounced by the much smaller Cheslin Kolbe and is then shrugged off by Sofiane Guitoune, 30m out.

Guitoune has time to adjust his slipping shorts before drawing the full-back, and snapping a pass to the supporting Antoine Dupont who is under the sticks.

That might be the ball game...

    Toulouse 15-3 Ulster

Turnover Toulouse in the shadown of their own posts!

Joe Tekori is the man getting the backslaps as the players pick themselves up. He was quick over the top of Sean Reidy as the Ulster flanker went into contact.
