    Bristol 10-16 Toulon

Lots and lots of phases for Bristol early in this second half, but little in terms of penetration through the Toulon wall of red shirts.

Eventually though they win a penalty on halfway as Toulon infringe on the ground, but in terms of territory, the Bears hardly went anywhere there.

I think we'll see a more safe-style of play from Bristol, more kicking.

They've got to start taking the points that will be on offer to them to get back level in this final.

Bristol will be kicking themselves. The couldn't have wished for a better start and twice more they were over the line and twice, quite rightly, they were disallowed.

They have played the better rugby but Toulon have taken their chances and possibly deserve to be ahead.

I've never seen Louis Carbonel kick like that when I was at Toulon, he never had anywhere near the strength and that last penalty from nearly 50 metres back sailed over the posts easily.

Bristol aren't getting enough go-forward ball from the pack to throw as many passes as they have been at times.

They've got to build their way back into this game and sometimes scoring so early in a game can have a negative effect.

The biggest moment of that half was probably Harry Thacker dropping the ball over the line and the momentum shift since then has been all towards Toulon.

  18. Half-timepublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 16 October 2020

    Bristol 10-16 Toulon

Well, what a turnaround that is after the opening 40 minutes.

A half of two halves for sure.

It was all Bristol for the first 20 minutes and then all Toulon after that.

The French have come from 10-0 down to lead 16-10 at the break.

  19. Penalty: Bristol 10-16 Toulonpublished at 40 mins

    Louis Carbonel

And another penalty notched from Toulon and Louis Carbonel on the stroke of half-time.

More sloppy discipline from Bristol on the floor is punished and Carbonel adds three more points with a kick from almost halfway.

Toulon have taken real confidence from what's happened in the latter part of this half.

Bristol are giving them too many chances at the breakdown and they're taking full advantage.
