micheal Kohler: why didn’t the welsh player go off for an HIA. Ref said it was to the head on review!

It's a fair point, and one that will no doubt be spoken about in the coming days. Surely protecting players means ensuring they are assessed after ANY head knock?

  4. Townsend questions red cardpublished at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Scotland 24-25 Wales

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend told BBC Scotland:

"Not scoring the try when we were on the line. That would have helped things then the red card made it tough. They got a few tries, one was soft on the maul.

"I was really proud of the effort especially when the game went into the last ten minutes. Getting around the defence, the effort was phenomenal. We got behind them. I'm convinced we won a penalty in that one.

"Sometimes these things don't go your way. you need to be ahead of the scoreboard in the last two minutes and not behind.

"I think Van Der Merwe and Stuart Hogg gave an amazing performances today. Just trying to give them some space when you're a man down is difficult.

"I'm more just questioning the process to see a replay of the red card. These are important parts of the game. Obviously if he did touch the head, I thought he got under and clear of the head. The TMO hinted there was late movement. The referee made the decisions and you have to abide with it."

  5. Wales 'cannot get carried away'published at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Scotland 24-25 Wales

Wales head coach Wayne Pivac told BBC One: "From 17-3 down against a side full a confidence, it was very very pleasing.

"There were some big moments from both sides so we are just happy to come away with a win, especially with four tries.

"We are improving each week in certain areas of the game and we showed a lot of character today.

"The squad has changed a lot since autumn, and it's tournament rugby now, a couple months is a long time to reflect.

"We cannot get carried away with this though and we need to build on it.

"Louis Rees-Zammit is doing some very good things with the ball, he's got things to work on, he dropped a high ball earlier and he wasn't the complete package, but he has scored some really well worked tries.

"We'll review this game now, see what we need to work on.

"A couple of the guys will go back to their clubs and hopefully come through it ok, and then we will hopefully have more players to choose from against England."

    They couldn't, could they?

Wales are two from two, albeit playing against 14 men for about half of their 160 minutes.

Still, they look to be improving in defence, have a shining star in the back-line and will hopefully welcome back a few front-liners in a fortnight for the England game.

    Shades of 2019...

Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones speaking to BBC One: "We're pleased with the character but, for large parts, we were disappointed with how we played.

"[The red card] is a tough one but there is a remit for that.

"Zambo [Rees-Zammit] has shown in the Premiership he is good enough, irrelevant of age.

"We know we have a lot to improve on."

You don't always want to take the points but at certain times, when Scotland were 17-8, taking those points would have been right to build some pressure.

  11. Hogg bemoans disciplinepublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Scotland 24-25 Wales

Scotland captain Stuart Hogg speaking to BBC Scotland: "I thought we were excellent in large parts of that game. We talked a lot during the week about our discipline. Conceding one penalty is fine, conceding four on the bounce is unacceptable.

"Wales were outstanding, they took their opportunitites but we gave them to them.

"It's pointless me whinging about the red card, what's done is done.

"We challenged each other for last 25 minutes to show some character. Should we have gotten in to that situation? Probably not.

"We have to get ready and get back to it in a few weeks time. Its going to be a long couple of weeks waiting for the next game."

  12. Wales 'have come a long way'published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

    FT: Scotland 24-25 Wales

Wales' man of the match Louis Rees-Zammit told BBC One: "We've come a long way from the last Six Nations campaign and worked so hard in training.

"It's hard to come up here and get a win.

"Liam Williams is a class player, we're linking up as best as we can.

"I'm thoroughly enjoying it, the whole team have helped me settle in and I'm loving playing on this sort of stage."

You can make your own mind up about Zander Fagerson's red card on 53 minutes.

  16. Full-time - Scotland 24-25 Walespublished at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

What an end to an utterly compelling Test match. Welsh embraces all around. Devastation for Scotland. Incredible.

Still Scotland come. But they're not yet in drop-goal range. Ali Price kicks the ball over the top, and Louis Rees-Zammit sends an absolute rocket down the pitch.

An incredible kick and Scotland are all the way back in their 22. Game over?!
