What dramas could we have seen in the final 20 minutes?

    We'll never know.

But any game that features a try as brilliant as Abby Dow's second is not a total write-off.

A surreal note to finish off a winning spring campaign for England.

    France 15-17 England

Before the lights went out around the 62nd minute, England wing Abby Dow had dazzled with two superb long-range scores.

France, aiming to end a run of eight successive defeats by England, were still very much in the fight however with scores from Jessy Tremouliere and Maëlle Filopon keeping them within a score.

Both teams and us at home were robbed of a grandstand finish by some shonky grandstand lighting.

The two sets of players are wandering around in the gloom on the pitch, swapping sheepish handshakes and bewildered Fran-glais.

    A really bizarre scene.

The word we are hearing from the stadium is that the match has been ended by the referee.

It will go down as an England win.

The most bizarre ending to a match I think I have ever seen.

Both teams looked utterly dumbfounded. Once the shock wears off they might be angry as well. You would be.

It is a poor look all round after a Test match of really high quality is ended only 60 minutes young.

It's really tricky for all these players. You don't want to finish a game like this.

    France 15-17 England

There is a discussion going on the tunnel. The England team manager is suggesting that there is a heightened risk of injury because of the players getting cold.

Her French counterpart seems more relaxed about the break. He would be with his team behind on the scoreboard perhaps.

The referee looks like she is ready to call the whole thing off...

There are a lot of Gallic shrugs going on pitchside. France number eight Romane Ménager is wandering up the corridor,

Is she going to speak to the England dressing room?

In theory, you can call a result with 60 minutes or more played. If they can't get the lights on, England will be given the victory.

Both teams are waiting in the dressing room waiting to see if they can decide it out on the pitch.

There were still 18 minutes left on the clock when we were plunged into darkness.

If there is a quick fix for this floodlight problem, they haven't found it.

Some of the players are running through some drills to stay warm...

No, they are heading back to the dressing rooms to keep the hamstrings warm.

England were just centimetres away from the score. The ball was just slightly too high for Dow and there was really good defence from the French.

England racking up the phases. Now they spin wide. Abby Dow forced into touch, just before she feeds Sarah McKenna to piroutte over.

And France pass forward as they try and counter.
