Wales will be hurting after a big loss in Dublin.

    Italy are in Paris tomorrow.

  4. 'England not clinical enough' - Jonespublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

England head coach Eddie Jones was also talking to BBC One.

"Scotland were a bit better than us and took their chances", he said. "There wasn't much in it, but congratulations to Scotland.

"We don't apportion any blame to Luke [Cowan-Dickie] - the referee adjudged it was a yellow card and we have to get on with it. We had opportunities to kick on, but we just weren't clinical enough.

"Given the quality of the competition, we just have to go to Italy and win."

  5. 'It counts for nothing if we don't perform next week'published at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend continued: "It counts for nothing if we don't back it up with a performance next week.

"We know how tough it is to play Wales in their own stadium in the Six Nations. We know we can play better and we'll have to do that next week."

  6. 'We know we can improve' - Townsendpublished at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend told BBC One: "I was so nervous for that set of scrums at the end.

"It was crossing my mind what England might do if they got a penalty, but fortunately it was decided on an error rather than a penalty.

"[Our self-belief] is excellent, as is our character. We were behind and came back. Some of our best rugby was in the last 15 minutes in tricky conditions.

"Finn Russell was superb all game. It means so much to Scotland as a nation. We know we can improve going forward."

  7. 'We won't focus on one moment'published at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

England captain Tom Curry told BBC One: "It was up and down. First half, we put ourselves in a good position but in the second half discipline cost us.

"We can't rely on one moment in the game. We need to react and be better ourselves."

  8. 'England's inexperience showed'published at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

When you're up against it and the crowd are onto you, your brain goes to mush. That's when you start to make poor decisions. England were in a really good position at 17-10 but they had inexperience in their team and as soon as that pressure came on England didn't have anything to resort to, so they made those poor decisions.

  9. 'We won't get carried away' - Hoggpublished at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

Scotland captain Stuart Hogg told BBC One: "I am absolutely chuffed to bits.

"We wanted to come out here to put on a show. We had times where we were up against it, England are a great team.

"For Darcy Graham to get that turnover, what pocket rocket! A full squad effort.

"The big thing for is to believe in us as individuals and as a team. We aren't getting carried away."

  11. 'Scotland's most complete performance'published at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

    Andy Nicol
Former Scotland scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a really complete performance - maybe Scotland's most complete performance.

They've played better, they've scored more tries but in tight games it is the little things. There was huge endeavour, the physicality was brilliant.

They stuck at it. It was a brilliant Test match because it ebbed and flowed. That is what you want to see - real competition.

  12. 'No debate about penalty try'published at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

There is no debate about the penalty try. I thought it was a competition for the ball initially but it was so blatant by Luke Cowan-Dickie.

The referee was absolutely right to say he chose to slap the ball off the field and if he hadn't done that Darcy Graham would have scored a try.

  13. 'Smith should have stayed on'published at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

    Martin Johnson
Former England captain and coach on BBC One

England's attack was a bit clunky in the first half but it's probably where they are as a team just coming together. The sin-binning and not having a hooker for that line-out [was the difference].

I would've liked to have seen Smith stay on.

  14. 'The culmination of two years' work'published at 18:54 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

Player of the match Matt Fagerson has been talking to BBC Sport.

"It's pretty crazy", he said. "We've been building as a squad for two years, and this is the culmination of it all.

"It just shows the heart of the boys to bring it home. The crowd were a huge part of that.

"[Finn Russell's] kicking game is probably the best in the world. It took some of the pressure off us big boys."

  15. 'Big England coaching error'published at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

There were a lot of things that England got wrong today off the field. That absolute shambles of a moment where Joe Marler's throwing the ball in and not having Jamie George come on to throw that is nothing but a coaching error.

I would like to see Eddie Jones put his hand up to say he's made a mistake because that was a crucial moment in the game.

  16. 'Scotland dug deep'published at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

    Andy Nicol
Former Scotland scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

What an atmosphere here. That is what rugby and the Six Nations is all about. When you get that connection between the crowd and players.

It ebbed and flowed that game. Scotland dug deep, they showed brilliant spirit in the second half.

  19. 'This is the evolution of Scotland'published at 18:44 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

    Andy Nicol
Former Scotland scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Scotland are a proper team now. This is the evolution of this team. They needed to win a tight game like this and they've done it.

I wanted them to be favourites to show they could do it and they've done it. It was outstanding.

  20. 'Moment of madness from Cowan-Dickie'published at 18:42 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Scotland 20-17 England

    Brian Moore
Former England hooker on BBC One

A moment of madness for Luke Cowan-Dickie. The irony was he could've caught that.
