Ah the one time I predict an England move and they change tactics, they play it quickly but South Africa win the penalty at the breakdown. There are a lot of missed tackles from England but Shaunagh Brown eventually has the player down and Marlie Packer piles over to turn over the ball. Zoe Harrison can't find touch but they do wrestle back possession. Again they lose it in contact though, a sloppy opening to this one from England.

South Africa are coming out of the line really hard. They need to temper it a little bit to make sure they don't lose anyone else to the bin.

There are a lot of uncharacteristic handling errors from England today.

Commentators are saying Catha Jacobs is lucky it isn't a red, there weren't a lot of mitigating factors there. But the referee has made her decision and England are on the attack again. Poppy Cleall loses the ball forward in contact and there's a South Africa scrum. But England win the scrum penalty! They boot it to the corner, surely another driving maul to come...

It isn't a red as the hit is passive as the momentum is coming from Poppy Cleall.

Poppy Cleall picks the ball at the base of the scrum as England launch their latest attack. The kicking game is here again and it is Abby Down who decides to run it. Tatyana Heard looks to break but there is deliberate crossing and the penalty is given. Cleall receives more treatment but she is remaining on. The referee is now looking at the TMO as Catha Jacobs looks like she has made contact with Cleall's chin in a tackle.

The opening 10 minutes have been all South Africa apart from England's one venture into the 22. It's important South Africa take some points.

Nomawethu Mabenge links in once again and makes great metres and she then wins the breakdown penalty! They kick to the corner and almost lose the line-out but they manage to re-gather. But England's defence comes good and win it back at the breakdown. There's another break in play as Poppy Cleall receives some treatment.

England get another penalty with South Africa offside once again and then the kicking game comes into play. The Red Roses gain possession and have a line-out which is won cleanly. Zoe Harrison kicks away and Nomawethu Mabenge runs it with a great line.

South Africa tried to get the drive to ground but Rosie Galligan sat at the back and had a bit of an armchair ride over the line.

Holly Aitchison does well to stay in field as England come forward, the Red Roses win the penalty as South Africa are offside and they kick to the corner. There is a break in play as a Boks player receives treatment after tackling Aitchison.

England are being tested! There is an early England knock on with a South Africa scrum to come. The set piece is clean and the Boks are on their first attack and Aseza Hele makes a cracking break! Simamkele Namba knocks on though and after a good scrum Zoe Harrison clears England lines.

The final pool match of this tournament is underway!

Marlie Packer leads from the front and is very charismatic, it'll be a huge honour for her to be captain today on her 87th cap. Expect fireworks!

There'll be a huge lot of nerves in the team because there's a lot of girls playing in a World Cup for the first time and they will also be looking to stake a claim for a place in the team in the knockout matches.

Here come the players! Marlie Packer looks in the zone as she led out England for the first time. The anthems will follow and then we will have kick-off!

England head coach Simon Middleton told ITV: "First and foremost it is making sure we have a good performance. We have some players who have been working hard and they are wanting to prove themselves.

"A bonus point win would be fantastic but the performance [is the focus]."

Earlier today Italy became the first Italian rugby team to reach a Rugby World Cup quarter-final with a 21-7 win over Japan. They finish second in their pool with Canada topping the group.

Marlie Packer thought when Simon Middleton wanted to chat to her about selection that she was going to be dropped for the match, but really he was telling her she was to be captain.

"I thought he was going to come over and say, 'We're not going to play you this weekend'. It was a completely different conversation." She added: "He said, 'We're going to make you captain, is that ok with you?' Of course, it's a massive honour."
