    Wales 5-7 Argentina

Argentina get a rolling maul moving dangerously into Wales' 22, and the Pumas have penalty advantage as it's halted illegally.

Penalty for Argentina inside the Welsh 22. Unsurprisingly, they kick to the corner again.

Prime attacking position for the Pumas here.

    Wales 5-7 Argentina

Nick Tompkins is guilty of a high tackle and Argentina use the penalty to kick for a lineout inside the Welsh half.

It's a bit scrappy from the Pumas, who are forced back by an organised Wales defence.

But then Argentina get another penalty as Tomos Williams is deemed to have knocked the ball on deliberately.

I think Wales will be kicking themselves to go in front and then concede the turnover straightaway in their own 22.

Just from these opening exchanges you can see this Argentinian pack is full of ball carriers.

It's going to be so important for Wales to play in the right areas and keep control of the ball.

    Wales 5-7 Argentina

This is end-to-end stuff, with Wales back on the attack.

They shift the ball out to the left wing, where youngster Tom Rogers knocks on.

A chance gone begging for the Scarlets wing, who has his head in his hands.

Owen Lane actually had quite a bit of work to do in the end, a superb finish.

    Matias Moroni, con Nicolas Sanchez

    Argentina hit back!

Their forwards are difficult, almost impossible, to stop when they generate a bit of momentum.

Captain Julian Montoya is among those to punch a hole in the Welsh defence, setting the platform for wing Matias Moroni to dive over from close range.

Nicolas Sanchez converts and the Pumas lead.

I think both teams are trying to figure each other out.

I was impressed last weekend with the Argentinian kicking game, they were dropping the ball just outside the Welsh 22.

  9. try

    Owen Lane

    No handling errors this time!

This is a well-worked try from Wales, with full-back Hallam Amos getting the attack moving at first.

After the ball is recycled, it's worked wide to captain Jonathan Davies, who straightens his run and passes to Owen Lane.

Lane then breaks the tackle of Matias Moroni and touches down in the corner. Strong finish.

Jarrod Evans misses his conversion, the ball just kissing the post on its way wide.

    Wales 0-0 Argentina

Wales mount their first attack from that line-out, with scrum-half Tomos Williams setting a quick tempo.

But as they did numerous times during last weekend's draw, Wales shoot themselves in the foot with a handling error.

What's going to be the key challenge for this Welsh pack today is to bend that Argentinian line.

  12. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Wales 0-0 Argentina

High tackle from Wales wing Owen Lane there? Not quite.

Referee Luke Pearce doesn't seem to have spotted it, and Wales have a penalty for a separate offence.

The replays show Lane trying to tackle Nicolas Sanchez but his arms actually miss the Argentina fly-half's head.

Play on, Wales kick to the corner.

  13. Missed penaltypublished at 4 mins

    Wales 0-0 Argentina

Now it's Argentina on the attack, with Rodrigo Bruni carrying powerfully into the Welsh 22.

The Pumas have a penalty in kickable range for Nicolas Sanchez but, surprisingly, the fly-half misses.

    That's a let-off for Wales.

  14. A long season comes to an endpublished at 2 mins

    Wales 0-0 Argentina

Tidy start from Wales. Flanker Josh Turnbull, starting his first game for Wales for seven years, gathers the kick-off safely and Tomos Williams clears.

Argentina full-back Santiago Carreras drops the high ball and Wales get an early spell of possession.

It's comes to an end after a few phases as the Pumas pack hold up Ben Carter, a maul is called and Argentina will have a scrum inside their own half.

  16. Kick-offpublished at 1 min

    Wales 0-0 Argentina

English referee Luke Pearce is in charge today.

He blows his whistle, Argentina fly-half Nicolas Sanchez takes kick-off and the game is under way.

"He's got a few tricks up his sleeve, as we saw when Argentina beat the All Blacks last year.

    "He's a dangerous player."

  20. Lions 'thrilled' for new father Adamspublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 17 July 2021

    Wales v Argentina (15:00 BST)

It's been a busy few days for Josh Adams, who starts on the wing for the British and Irish Lions today.

The Welshman was a late withdrawal from Wednesday's 17-13 loss to South Africa A after his fiancee Georgia went into labour, allowing him to be part of it via a Zoom link as their daughter Lottie Efa Adams was born.

Lions head coach Warren Gatland says the squad are "thrilled" for new dad Adams but admits it was "surreal" to have prepared for both a match and a birth.
