Ooofff! That was like an uppercut to the solar plexus for England.

Poor Jack van Poortvliet is picked out on the big screen, looking a little sheepish.

The atmosphere seeps out the Twickenham ceiling...

Interception and the All Blacks score!

Jack van Poortvliet span the ball out but instead of a white shirt, it was met by the onrushing Dalton Papali'i, who had the simplest of tasks to run in unchallenged.

    Twickenham is stunned.

No chance of the slap and spit of the haka being heard in the stands.

A combination of Swing Low and high-pitch whistling drowns out New Zealand's effort.

    The atmosphere is bubbling...

The All Blacks perform the haka, and England's response is to link arms just back of halfway and stare impassively.

The crowd, however, respond with a loud 'Swing Low...'

Right, formalities are over, we are all set!

Owen Farrell strode out to quite a reception from the Twickenham crowd on the occasion of his 100th cap.

A quick clap to acknowledge all four corners of the ground and then it is down to business...

The teams are out and the anthems are being belted out with gusto.

It's the Haka next - how will England accept the challenge? I still remember England getting eyeball to eyeball with the All Blacks in the '90s at Old Trafford, but I'm not expecting that tonight...

Twickenham have put on strobe-heavy light show to build the anticipation before kick-off.

It, along with the thumping Eurodisco and some Yokohama 2019 highlights on the big screen, is doing the job nicely.

Eddie Jones speaking to Amazon Prime: "We know it is about the physical battle, it always is. They have historically bullied teams but we are the team that can stand up to them.

"I think Owen Farrell is way short of the credit he deserves. He is the third-highest points scorer in Test rugby and rarely gets the credence he deserves but he certainly gets it from us."

"We are striving for consistency of performance but I think we are getting there."

    Scarves

The Twickenham sellers have waited a while for this bumper day.

In the last nine years, the All Blacks have only been to Twickenham twice.

England's win in Yokohama broke a run of six successive Kiwi victories in the fixture. What happened before that? Manu happened.

England v New Zealand (17:30 GMT)

England coach Eddie Jones talked a good game in the aftermath of his side's win over Japan last week as he looked ahead to today's showdown with the All Blacks.

Reflecting on the 19-7 win over them in the 2019 World Cup semi-final, he said: "We showed that if you've got the right attitude and the right game plan then history can be broken.

"If we go after them then they're there for the taking - and we're going to go after them."

Brave words. Foolish words? It's going to be fascinating to find out, that's for sure.

He has been on coin-toss duties, losing the flip to counterpart Sam Whitelock.

    Red Roses

The Red Roses are represented on the sides of the soaring Twickenham stands. Of course, that is something of a sore point for England.

Overwhelming pre-tournament favourites, they were rolled by hosts New Zealand in a corking Rugby World Cup final last weekend.

Prop Hannah Botterman has been spotted hobbling around the fringes of the pitch. Might the team be presented to the crowd at half-time?

Will Eddie Jones have a lead on the scoreboard by then?

New Zealand have brought second row Brodie Retallick straight back into their starting line-up after his suspension for a red card in their 38-31 win over Japan. The 31-year-old, like Farrell, will reach 100 caps today.

Coach Ian Foster has rejigged his backline in the wake of the 31-23 win over Scotland, bringing Richie Mo'unga into fly-half and moving Beauden Barrett to full-back.

Barrett's brother Jordie, who played 15 at Murrayfield, moves into midfield alongside Rieko Ioane, while Aaron Smith comes in at scrum-half.

New Zealand: B Barrett; Telea, Ioane, J Barrett, Clarke; Mo'unga, Smith; De Groot, Taylor, Lomax, Retallick, Whitelock (c), S Barrett, Papali'i, Savea.

Replacements: Taukei'aho, Bower, Laulala, Frizzell, Sotutu, Perenara, Havili, Lienert-Brown
