The score line doesn't reflect what kind of game it's been so far.

Wales haven't managed to get out of their own half.

South Africa have 15 excellent players on the pitch but things aren't going their way, maybe that's because of the lack of experience in the side.

A cagey affair with Wales slightly on the back foot but defending resolutely with Dan Lydiate outstanding.

Wales look most dangerous with the chip kick tactic from Dan Biggar when the ball is gathered by the likes of Liam Williams and Louis Rees-Zammit.

All to play for but there is a lot of tension around the stadium. The series is on the line for Wayne Pivac's side.

It's a much more physical game than last week's match.

South Africa are employing the tactic of kicking to the corners, and using their big forwards.

The Springboks might only have three points, but they've been the only team in it so far.

Wales will have to up their game in the second half and somehow get possession and cross the gain line because if that doesn't happen the floodgates will open.

    This game's in deadlock.

There's a need for something to break the deadlock.

The pressure's been with South Africa, Wales are on the ropes a little bit.

  8. Half-time - South Africa 3-3 Walespublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

The hooter sounds in Bloemfontein to mark the end of the half.

It has been a Test that got off the mark early, with an early penalty for each team.

Dan Biggar and Handre Pollard then both missed penalties they'd be expected to score but the game has been very different to last week in Pretoria.

No more points followed, but it has been an extremely physical encounter.

Joins us again in 15 minutes for the second half of this tightly-poised contest.

Just 60 seconds left in the first half here in Bloemfontein.

We've had over half and hour of scoreless action since the two early penalties.

Will there be a late score to liven up the crowd in the Toyota Stadium?

Both sides turn the ball over before Springboks prop Joseph Dweba finds himself on the right wing with room to run.

Credit to the hooker, he makes good progress before Dan Biggar steals the ball back before being thrown into touch.

South Africa claim the line-out but knock the ball on.

Tommy Reffell opts to kick the ball long but it goes straight out of bounds, thankfully for the flanker though the referee was still playing advantage for the knock-on so Wales will have the scrum.

A little bit of innovation in the Welsh attack for a change in this half.

Dan Biggar kicks across field on half-way to Louis Rees-Zammit who collects the ball and passes immediately to Liam Williams.

He is tackled well by Aphelele Fassi to stop the Wales full-back breaking clear, but that was better from Wales.

What separates Tommy Reffell from a lot of other sevens is his ability to ride the initial contact.

He's in there and he rides the initial contact when the majority of people would fall over.

He stays there and wins the height battle and he's so hard to remove.

Wales have a bit of joy with a driving maul of their own before Kieran Hardy overcooks a box kick which is claimed easily by Aphelele Fassi who calls the mark.

For those interested, it is almost 30 minutes since we had any score in the match.

A very different Test match to last week.

Basic errors have crept into the Wales game with Kieran Hardy guilty of a forward pass and Elias producing a crooked lineout throw.

Wales' resistance was again evident with Elias and Tommy Reffell gaining crucial defensive turnovers.

The spirit in Wayne Pivac's side can not be questioned.

There are a couple bruised bodies already. Adam Beard and Evan Roos both require a quick check from the physios, but it does not look too serious.

I've not mentioned his name yet, but Tommy Reffell is making a great start to his international career.

After a great performance on his debut last week in Pretoria, the Leicester man has now won the ball back in the ruck.

    Textbook play from the flanker.

    South Africa 3-3 Wales

    Short answer. No.

Wales win back possession, Ryan Elias diving on the loose ball, and Dan Biggar kicks Wales just outside their own 22.

The Springboks will come again though.

Adam Beard claims the line-out but Wales are then penalised in their own driving maul.

South Africa have another scrum deep in the Welsh half. Can they finally take advantage?

  19. Postpublished at 28 mins

    South Africa 3-3 Wales

Kieran Hardy clears up to half-way but South Africa come again through Handre Pollard, who looks as dangerous as anyone on the pitch right now.

Wales do well to slow the ball down though, and Warrick Gelant opts to grubber kick through down to the Welsh five-metre line.

South Africa look like they can up the power and get over the gain line, they've got some big battering rams.

Wales' flow seems to be slightly off.
