The pressure is on South Africa, and that's a good thing from a Welsh perspective.

The boys can get out there this afternoon and express themselves.

It's a huge opportunity for Wales today, there are definitely weaknesses in that South African team...and there are definitely ways to exploit it.

  5. Biggar urges Wales to seize rare chancepublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

South Africa v Wales (16:05 BST)

Wales captain Dan Biggar knows occasions like series deciders in South Africa do not come around very often.

He also knows that at the age of 32, there might not be many more chances for him to achieve a little bit of history.

Biggar has already become the first captain to lead a Wales men's side to a victory over the Springboks in South Africa after they celebrated a 13-12 win in Bloemfontein to level the series.

Now, after recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in that game, the fly-half is hoping to help Wales become the first of the nations that make up the British and Irish Lions to win a series in South Africa, with Ireland, Scotland and England never having managed the feat either.

"I am the first to admit it, for boys like myself, you are not going to have too many more opportunities," said Biggar.

It's a huge boost having captain Dan Biggar passed fit for this match.

He's been leading the side in training before and during this tour,

However last week he was tackling high, so this week his tackling technique will have to be spot on.

South Africa v Wales (16:05 BST)

I mean, these stats aren't great for Wales fans, but then they are a lot better than they were before the first or second Tests!

    • Wales finally beat the Springboks in South Africa at a 12th attempt in Bloemfontein. South Africa dominate the 39 past matches between the two nations with 31 victories, seven Wales wins and a draw in 1970.
    • After Wales celebrated a first victory over the Springboks in 1999 - in the opening match at the then Millennium Stadium - South Africa won 16 successive home and away games between 2000 and 2014.
    • The balance then tilted slightly, with the Springboks losing on four Cardiff visits before winning at the Principality Stadium in November 2021 in the last meeting between the two sides.
    • South Africa have triumphed in the recent crucial matches, beating Wales in the quarter-final of the 2015 World Cup at Twickenham and inflicting a 2019 semi-final defeat on the way to being crowned world champions in Japan.

Much like Alexander Hamilton and Angelica Schuyler - you know you come to rugby live pages for musical references - Wales lock Adam Beard will never be satisfied, not unless Wales can win this series today in Cape Town.

Beard admits Wales have defied the odds by winning a Test in South Africa, but he wants more.

Most people reading this will be hoping that Wales don't throw away their shot.

I promise I'll stop now, I won't make it the story of tonight.

Jamie Roberts says he enjoyed an "amazing last day" training with Wales before announcing his retirement from rugby.

Roberts, 35, trained with Wales on Tuesday in Cape Town to help them prepare for the decisive Test against South Africa, just hours before announcing his retirement from the game.

Roberts, who won 94 Wales caps and played three Tests for the British and Irish Lions, is in South Africa working as a television pundit on the series between Springboks and Wales.

A legend of Welsh rugby announced his retirement this week, which should not get lost in the shuffle of this momentous third Test.

Wales centre Jamie Roberts has called time on his playing career at the age of 35.

Roberts won 94 Wales caps and played three Tests for the British and Irish Lions and finished his career with Waratahs in Australia.

"The time feels right," said Roberts.

"As I reach the end of my professional playing career, I'm retiring with an immense sense of gratitude for what the sport has provided me."

The South Africans know how to put on pre-match entertainment.

The music, mainly 1980s and 1990s classics, has been blaring around the stadium for the last few hours and it was the same in Pretoria and Bloemfontein.

Wales will be hoping they are the ones playing tunes in the dressing room after this series decider.

Having battled back to the pinnacle of international rugby, Dan Lydiate is hoping to feel the buzz of another win against South Africa.

Lydiate's return road has been long.

After some serious injury issues Lydiate, at 34, has fought his way back onto the international stage for Wales' trip to South Africa. It is a tour made for him, and he made a telling impression on the second Test with 18 tackles.

He will be hoping more more of the same today.

BBC Sport Wales' Gareth Griffiths spoke to Lydiate about his long road to recovery.

  16. Landmark day for Northpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

South Africa v Wales (16:05 BST)

George North, starting alongside Nick Tompkins in the centre for the third time in a row, will overtake Stephen Jones' record as the most-capped Wales men's international back of all time this afternoon, as he makes his 105th appearance.

North made his debut for Wales in 2010 against South Africa in Cardiff, scoring two tries.

Only Alun Wyn Jones (152), named among Wales' replacements today, and defence coach Gethin Jenkins (129) have more Wales caps.

"It's fantastic for George," said Wayne Pivac. "He's worked really hard to come back from a major injury and to break that record is no mean achievement.

"I'm looking forward to seeing George out there and hope he can have a stormer for us."

Sometimes it is easy to forget Louis Rees-Zammit is still only 21.

He enjoyed a meteoric rise in international rugby, but he's already experienced high and low points in his young career.

But after bouncing back from disappointment, he says he is ready to help Wales make history.

"I always believed that I could play against South Africa, that I was made for it," he told BBC Sport Wales' Gareth Griffiths.

"Unfortunately I didn't get the chance last year but I'm here now and it's 1-1 in the series. What more would I want? The decider is coming up on Saturday, I can't wait.

"To be the first [Wales men's] team to win on South African soil is amazing but ultimately we're here to win a Test series."

    I think Wales are ready.

We have to remember this is a full-strength South Africa side today, after they made so many changes for last week's Test.

The challenge is huge for Wales, but I think they can give South Africa a game.

  19. Lion Josh Adams hopes for different storypublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

South Africa v Wales (16:05 BST)

Josh Adams knows what it is like to lose a decisive Test match in South Africa and it is not an experience he is looking to repeat.

The Wales wing is hoping for a different result in his latest Test series decider against the Springboks.

Twelve months ago Adams was part of the British and Irish Lions starting side that lost the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

Now Adams returns with Wales to face the Springboks in another winner-takes-all international.

"Hopefully it goes a little bit better than last year," said Adams.

Gareth Anscombe may be a late withdrawal with a rib injury but he is out on the field helping Wales' kickers prepare.

He will be disappointed to be missing this third Test but it's a great chance for Rhys Patchell.

Wales will be hoping Dan Biggar's sore shoulder stands up to South Africa.
