  1. Goodbye for nowpublished at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

It was another disappointing 80 minutes for Wales, and perhaps not that surprising given the week they've had off the pitch.

There were signs of improvement after heavy defeats to Ireland and Scotland, they were in contention, but the try line is still proving elusive.

Wales now travel to Italy and France having made their worst start in the tournament since 2007, the prospect of the wooden spoon and a first Six Nations whitewash in 20 years looking a worrying possibility for Warren Gatland's side.

England were good value for their win - it was actually their biggest win in Cardiff since 2003.

They played some lovely rugby at times and move level on points with Scotland after back-to-back wins.

You can read the full match report here.

Scotland are away to France tomorrow - with both teams looking to keep pace with Grand Slam-chasing Ireland after their victory over Italy earlier.

But from Cardiff, that's it from us, the streets will be painted white tonight.

    James Hook
Former Wales fly-half on BBC Radio Wales Extra

You look at England's attack, it looked more cohesive, the forwards and backs were connected really well getting over the game line.

England won the kicking battle hands down hence the reason why Freddie Steward won man of the match, He was fantastic in the air but also they had threats all over the pitch.

The third loss for Wales of this Six Nations, they look lost on the field, they have got to go work on some stuff in the training ground this week.

  5. 'Massive Game'published at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

    Sam Warburton
Former Wales captain on BBC One

Wales away to Italy is a massive game, that is going to be enormous for the Italians, Wales still don't know what their best 15 is right now.

    Massive game.

  6. 'England less predictable'published at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

England are a forward-oriented side who can win set-piece. Defensively they are very well drilled which makes life super difficult for the opposition.

The pattern that I'm starting to see with this England side are key individuals who are taking the ball up to the line, then the backs are starting to regenerate wider and creating a threat.

Rather than being predictable, England are creating more options in attack which is difficult to defend.

  7. Last two weeks have taken toll -Owenpublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

    Ken Owens
Wales hooker on BBC Radio 5 Live

"The last two weeks obviously have taken their toll for a number of different reasons but we can't use that as an excuse," Wales captain Ken Owens told BBC One.

"We spoke about the emotion of the last two weeks, we gave a massive effort for 80 minutes we were right in the game throughout, but we left a couple of opportunities out there.

"Towards the end of the first half i thought we got on top and turned the ball over three or four times close to their line.

"I can't question the effort of this squad, we are in a rebuilding phase, we have got to rebuild pretty quick but the 23 who went out there today put out a massive shift.

"We fronted up, defensively I thought we were a lot better, discipline was a lot better, we stuck to our gameplan but came up short.

"We have drawn a line in the sand and like I said in the week Welsh rugby has got to work together as a whole. Every stakeholder we have has got to come together and improve."

  8. 'We've got to be scoring more points'published at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

    Tom Shanklin
Former Wales international on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wales have got a really poor ratio of when they get into opposition 22 and converting that into points.

We've only scored one try per game in this campaign... we've got to be scoring more points than that.

The attitude is great from start to finish, but tactically they got it wrong.

They're trying to play too tight, the game opened up when they played a bit wider whether it was Tipuric or Faletau hitting those angles.

When they went away from that, when they started to go short and closer to England's back-row they became unstuck.

  10. 'A win in Cardiff is huge'published at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Three games into Steve Borthwick's regime, thrust in with around 40 days of preparation... I'm going to say Borthwick is going to go home tonight and think, 'we are making progress'.

A win in Cardiff is a huge deal for England. They might not have shown fantastic style and panache but you can go to the dragon's lair and win.

That is all in the locker for the very near future when you've got to go to France.

  11. Gatland can't fault effortpublished at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

"I can't be critical of the effort they put in out there, they tried really hard," Wales head coach Warren Gatland told BBC One.

"But if we look at the mistakes that we made that shifted the momentum back to England, they were pretty critical moments.

"We turned the ball back over on too many occasions, we dropped a couple of high balls, that was pretty frustrating, a couple of penalties as well.

"There's work to do, but there was some improvement in some areas."

  12. 'We've got to push on' - Borthwickpublished at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

England head coach Steve Borthwick said on BBC One: "I thought first half our intent to try and get the ball to the edge, that was an improvement.

"It didn't keep going like that. It turned into a pressure contest. Clearly our breakdown needed to be better and you’ve got to credit the Welsh jacklers.

"As we’re in this process, we need to keep these players growing. Now we’ve got to push on.

"There were bits in that performance that we can really push on with. We’ve got two big games to finish the Championship. For now we’re going to make sure we enjoy that win."

  13. 'Incredible respect for Welsh players' - Borthwickpublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

England head coach Steve Borthwick said on BBC One: "I’m really proud of the team and what they did. That was a tough Test match and there was a lot of pressure in that game. There’s wasn’t much in it really.

"You’ve got to give those Welsh players incredible respect to produce a performance like that after what they’ve gone through."

Former Wales captain on BBC One

It's not going well at all, Wales just aren't scoring, they are really struggling in attack.

You can't use the excuse of what is going on off the field, Wales are quite far off it at the moment.

  17. 'A lot of work to do' - Farrellpublished at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2023

    FT: Wales 10-20 England

More from England captain Owen Farrell on BBC One: "It's not all a matter of scoreboard, it's about building pressure as well. We deserved to be more up at times because I was bad off the tee today but if we'd have done that Wales would have had to force their hand a bit earlier.

"It was a good test for us and we took control in that last 20 I thought.

"We're right at the start. We've got another big team coming next time back at Twickenham [France] and we've got a lot of work to do.

"There's bits starting to show but we're laying some foundations at the minute. We want to keep building on it all."

England captain Owen Farrell told BBC One: "I thought it was a step forward for us. As we keep saying we're at the start of our journey.

"It was a different challenge for us to come away from home to a place like this, a team that has had a lot going on during the week and have unified to come together for this crowd at the weekend. Fair play to them.

"We had a job to do and thankfully we took a step forward."

    Gareth Delve
Former Wales international on BBC Radio Wales Extra

Wales played in fits and starts, we ran into a brick walls for the majority of the game.

We've got a couple of big lumps now in the centre, Joe Hawkins has been brilliant today but sooner we need more going forward, more penetration.
