That couldn't have gone any better for France in the first half. They will continue and want to give it full in the face to England.

A chastening 40 minutes of rugby for England and their fans. France were in utter control throughout.

Jack: All the talk before today was about how Marcus Smith would do in the absence of Owen Farrell. He's not had the chance to show anything - England's forwards have been dire and have offered him no platform. Urgent improvement needed

Travis: This has been a brutal 40. England can't do a thing right, no idea of a game plan, France scoring from every attack and comfortably coping in defence. If it carries on it could be a cricket score.

  10. How Ireland can win the Six Nations this weekendpublished at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2023

Scotland v Ireland (15:00 GMT, Sunday)

Ireland, who face Scotland on Sunday, currently sit on a maximum 15 points. A bonus point win for Andy Farrell’s men would put them eight, nine or 10 points ahead of Scotland, depending on any losing bonus points, meaning Scotland would be unable to usurp Ireland on the final day.

Also on 10 points are both of today's foes, England and France. That means Ireland need to be at least six points ahead of both sides, as well as Scotland, in order to be crowned champions by the end of the penultimate set of fixtures.

A bonus point win for England or France would keep them within five points of Ireland, meaning the Championship would head to the final day. However, should either England or France win but fail to earn a bonus point, then Ireland would sit six points clear with a bonus-point win over Scotland, and subsequently have an unassailable lead at the top to take the title.

    Simple really.

France scored 35 points at Twickenham in 2015 but still lost. We could see a record haul for sure.

Can England make any sort of inroads?

England usually huddle up and walk in, no such thing. Dribs and drabs walk in. Ellis Genge talking to the referee. This sounds awful and hopefully there is a rocket in the England dressing room right now.

England are lost. Their minds are scrambled and it can happen. It's 27-3 at home. We know what is going to happen with this crowd given what happened against South Africa in the autumn if England don't pull their finger out.

There is a massive load of pressure on these boys, pressure on Steve Borthwick. Never mind the honeymoon period, never mind he has only been in tenure for a couple of months, there is massive pressure in that changing room right now.

Wow. I have not seen such a capitulation. Not only in the scrummage but the scramble defence. As soon as that try was scored it was if the England team went to 5ft 5in and France went to 7ft. This is men against boys right now.

Converted try - England 3-27 Francepublished at 40+1 mins

    Charles Ollivon

It's an absolute mauling. Again, the French forwards move the ball so well from a scrum, Charles Ollivon gets his head down and powers through Marcus Smith to smash his way over the line.

Steve Borthwick heads to the dressing room as Thomas Ramos adds even more dismay from the tee.
